New nonstop Viva Aerobus service between Harlingen and Monterrey (Mexico) begins May 6th

Flights are operated on a fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft, the youngest fleet in Mexico & 2nd youngest fleet in North America.

HARLINGEN, TEXAS – Viva Aerobus, Mexico´s ultra-low-cost-carrier, will offer the only nonstop service between Harlingen, Texas and Monterrey, Mexico, to fly two times weekly, beginning May 6th.

Viva’s onboard experience between Harlingen and Monterrey will be on Airbus A320 aircraft, being the youngest fleet in Mexico and 2nd youngest fleet in North America.

“We are very pleased to welcome Viva Aerobus to our market and look forward to a close partnership that will guarantee success,” said Marv Esterly, Director of Aviation at Valley International Airport. “Providing nonstop jet service between Monterrey, MX and the Rio Grande Valley VIA Harlingen, opens up connecting destinations in Mexico for our passengers at very competitive prices. We are very excited for what this means for Rio Grande Valley residents, area businesses and all travelers on both sides of the border,” Esterly added.

This new route also provides wide connectivity to US passengers for a large part of the country as Viva Aerobus offers more than 30 domestic routes within Mexico from Monterrey. In addition, Viva offers travelers the possibility to connect by land to more than 100 destinations with preferential fares, with discounts of up to 50%, in the most recognized Mexican bus companies since Viva belongs to Grupo IAMSA, the leading multimodal transport group in the country (land + air transport).

"It is exciting to open a new nonstop service in Texas as part of our strategy to expand Viva Aerobus´s reach to the US. We are looking forward to providing customers Viva´s unmatched reliability, safety, and renowned customer-focused service offering the lowest fares", said Viva Aerobus CEO Juan Carlos Zuazua. “Our flights will be the only nonstop service between Harlingen and Monterrey improving convenience for travelers and access between these sister cities, which already share important commercial and cultural ties”, he added.

Viva Aerobus will land for the first time in Harlingen with a renewed commitment to passengers’ health and well-being through its compressive program called Viva Contigo, aimed at providing a safe journey, flexibility, and low fares. Therefore, Viva has established disciplined hygiene and prevention protocols including additional disinfection processes in aircraft, luggage, and common areas, safe distance guidelines, mandatory use of face masks, among many other actions.

Viva Aerobus has served Texas continuously since 2010; now flying from San Antonio to Leon, Mexico City, and Monterrey; from Houston to Cancun, Guadalajara, Leon, Monterrey and Mexico City; and now, from Harlingen to Monterrey. This Viva's new service complements numerous Texas service announcements made recently. This spring, Viva added new regular routes to Leon (Guanajuato, Mexico) from San Antonio and Houston, both will begin operations in May. Currently, Viva offers more than 20 international routes to the US.
