New SWISS Boeing 777 destinations this winter

Services from Geneva will see the deployment of larger equipment to selected destinations in Spain, Portugal and Italy.

SWISS will be introducing its new fleet flagship, the Boeing 777-300ER, onto its services to Miami and San Francisco in the coming 2016/17 winter schedules. The new timetables also bring more weekly frequencies between Zurich and Hamburg, Berlin, Krakow and Belgrade; and SWISS will further offer its first-ever scheduled flights between Zurich, Sion and London (City) in February 2017. Services from Geneva will see the deployment of larger equipment to selected destinations in Spain, Portugal and Italy. And SWISS’s partner airline Edelweiss will be increasing its frequencies to the Canary Islands and elsewhere.

Boeing 777 to Miami and San Francisco
SWISS’s new long-haul aircraft, the Boeing 777-300ER, will be deployed for the first time on services between Zurich and Miami in the 2016/17 winter schedules. From 30 October onwards, the route will see one of its two Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday flights operated with Boeing 777-300ER equipment.

The new Boeing 777-300ER will also be operated on SWISS’s Zurich-San Francisco route from 16 February 2017, on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday frequencies. The further SWISS services to Miami and San Francisco will continue to be provided with Airbus A330-300 or Airbus A340-300 equipment.

Services between Zurich and Singapore, which are currently provided using Boeing 777-300ER equipment three days a week, will become a daily Boeing 777 operation from 3 March 2017.

More frequencies on selected European routes
SWISS will also be raising its frequencies between Zurich and a number of cities in Europe this winter in response to increased demand. Hamburg receives four new weekly flights, Berlin two, Krakow two and Belgrade one. At the same time, services will be suspended for the winter period between Zurich and Zagreb, Sarajevo and Istanbul.

New scheduled service between Zurich, Sion and London
In a further innovation, SWISS will be offering a number of scheduled services between Zurich, Sion and London (City) from 4 to 25 February 2017. The new flights are being offered in response to the demand for attractive winter tourism connections.

More capacity from Geneva to Spain, Portugal and Italy
SWISS will be withdrawing its services on certain routes from Geneva as part of its ongoing endeavours to optimize its Geneva-based network. As a result, Lugano, Algiers and Skopje will no longer be served from Geneva from the 2016/17 winter schedules.

On other routes from Geneva, however – to Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia in Spain, to Lisbon in Portugal and to Rome and Florence in Italy – SWISS will be deploying bigger aircraft in the coming winter schedules. These services will be newly operated with Airbus A320-family and Avro RJ100 equipment.

SWISS will serve 100 destinations (75 European and 25 intercontinental) in 44 countries in the 2016/17 winter timetable period.

Edelweiss expanding further
SWISS will also be offering services to vacation destinations all over the world this winter in collaboration with its partner airline Edelweiss. The Edelweiss winter schedules include more services to the Canary Islands: five weekly flights to Tenerife, four to Gran Canaria, and two each to Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. Seville will also newly receive two weekly flights in the winter period, too.

Lufthansa Group to serve new holiday destinations over winter
The airlines in the Lufthansa group – Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Eurowings, Lufthansa and SWISS – will be even a more attractive option for winter holidaymakers and business travellers this winter. As always, passengers can rely on the high standard of service, quality and reliability of the Lufthansa Group.

In the forthcoming 2016/2017 winter flight timetable, the airlines of the Lufthansa Group will offer its customers precisely 19,838 flights each week around the world. This winter, the Lufthansa Group airlines will link 255 destinations in 101 countries via its hubs in Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich, Vienna and Brussels, but also via many point-to-point routes. These services will be supplemented by more than 18,000 code-sharing flights with some 30 partner airlines, offering passengers a network which almost spans the globe. The winter flight timetables for the individual Group airlines apply from Sunday, 30 October 2016 to Saturday, 25 March 2017.
