Lorenzo di Loreto and Dr. Lutz Weisser have taken over from October 2022 in a smooth transition phase.

November 2022, a management change will take place at Munich Airport International (MAI), the international business subsidiary of Munich Airport. After more than 13 years at Munich Airport and the successful development of its international business field, CEO Dr. Ralf Gaffal decided to leave MAI as of November 2022.

Under Ralf Gaffal’s guidance, the international business at Munich Airport developed from a sole ORAT Consulting Provider to a global airport operator which successfully expanded into airport management, consulting and training services. Due to this continuous dynamic growth of Munich Airport's international activities and the increasing complexity of its business, MAI will be headed by two managing directors in the future. Lorenzo di Loreto and Dr. Lutz Weisser have taken over from October 2022 in a smooth transition phase.

Lorenzo Di Loreto, MAI´s Senior VP Business Development & Service Delivery, has more than 18 years of professional experience in driving business development and operations management for leading aviation companies around the world. Lorenzo has been a major contributor to MAI’s growth over the past six years, with significant impact on market positioning, commercial performance, operational improvements as well as the overall transformation of the business and competitive mind-set.

As founder and Managing Partner of amd.sigma strategic airport development GmbH, Lutz Weisser has been part of the MAI Group since 2019. He has been involved in many airport privatization and planning projects around the world, gaining a wealth of experience in all aspects of strategic airport development. Having successfully managed his own company for more than three decades, he also brings important entrepreneurial expertise to the Group.

“The new twin leadership will allow MAI to ensure continuous support for all international activities and to expand into new projects and horizons with the strong backing of the Munich Airport Group”, states Jost Lammers, Chief Executive Officer Munich Airport. Lammers adds: “I would like to thank Dr. Gaffal for the successful launch and continuous development of Munich Airport’s international business subsidiary and at the same time wish the new management team every success.”
