Newly-renovated Linthwaite House wins plaudits

The interiors at Linthwaite House reflect the quintessentially English setting, climate and colours of the Lake District, and incorporate the best of modern British design and furniture makers.

LAKE DISTRICT – It only re-opened a few months’ ago following a refurbishment costing over £10 million, but Leeu Collection’s Linthwaite House in the Lake District is already winning plaudits, most recently securing a HotelsCombined Recognition of Excellence for 2018.

This award is given to hotels that consistently achieve the highest standards of Customer Satisfaction worldwide. HotelsCombined found and processed 1785 opinions that Linthwaite guests have posted on a variety of different websites, forums and social media, resulting in an incredible score of 9.1 out of a possible 10, reflecting a position in the top 3% of accommodation worldwide.

For example, Linthwaite House has a Certificate of Excellence and a rating of 4.5/5 on TripAdvisor, with one recent guest praising the “superb” service and the “excellent” food offering, while another wrote “the views are fabulous overlooking the lake” and another titled their review “Exceptional in every way”.

On Booking.com, Linthwaite has a rating of 9.4/10, with Caroline from United Kingdom remarking: “The quality of the refurbishment is outstanding. Art work is exceptional, and the grounds and location are stunning”. Similarly, on Google reviews, where Linthwaite achieves an overall score of 4.5/5, Jim Whitehead has written, “Fabulous hotel, immaculate rooms and gardens. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The attention to detail is second to none and the owner has excelled with the artwork and sculptures. Probably one of the best views from the terrace in the whole of the lakes.”

The interiors at Linthwaite House reflect the quintessentially English setting, climate and colours of the Lake District, and incorporate the best of modern British design and furniture makers. At the same time, they remain loyal to the Leeu Collection’s sophisticated signature style – bespoke, luxurious, calm, comfortable and elegant interiors – as seen in its South African sister properties Leeu Estates, Leeu House and Le Quartier Français, all in Franschhoek in the Cape Winelands.

In the innovative new restaurant Stella, guests can sample locally sourced organic produce that highlights the best of the Cumbrian region and season, cooked with Italian flair. Linthwaite House’s perennially popular light-filled Bar & Conservatory, which has been opened up and extended so that guests can better enjoy the outstanding panoramic views of Windermere and the surrounding fells, serves an all-day dining menu (including pizzas to rival those of Florence), a selection of afternoon teas and hand-crafted cocktails in the evenings.

Outside, Linthwaite House’s well-manicured 14 acres of grounds have been re-worked in some detail by landscape artist Franchesca Watson and peppered with striking sculptures.
