Operto and Expedia Group Multifamily Solutions partner

Promoting a seamless smart stay solution for property managers and guests.

VANCOUVER, BC – Operto Guest Technologies is announcing an industry-leading integration and partnership that brings together Operto’s Smart Stay property automation solution with Expedia Group Multifamily Solutions.

Operto – from the Italian word aperto; meaning to open – enables property managers and hosts to enhance their operations, making them more efficient and providing an elevated guest experience through a curated range of smart home technology. Operto’s purpose-built software makes this technology meaningful in a commercial setting.

Expedia Group Multifamily Solutions combines ApartmentJet, a software solution enabling the rental of guest suites in multifamily communities, and Pillow, a software solution that helps building owners and managers empower their long-term residents to rent their residences, to provide tenants and landlords with a legal and flexible way to participate in the short-term rental movement.

For a limited time, current or new Expedia Group Multifamily Solutions clients in the U.S. will receive free hardware, free installation, and an ongoing $10 credit per month from Expedia Group for deploying Operto’s Professional Plus package (normally $39.99/ month).

“Our focus is to help the multifamily industry have all the solutions they need in one place,” said Eric Broughton, General Manager of Expedia Group Multifamily Solutions. “By partnering with Operto,  we can rapidly scale a world-class automation solution and provide amazing service to our multifamily clients and their guests. It’s a top-notch solution.”

According to Michael Driedger, co-founder and CEO of Operto, “We’re very excited to work with the Expedia Group team. They’ve created a great model that makes it easy for multifamily operators to capitalize on the explosive growth of short-term rentals.”

The partnership’s first major deployment took place at Greystar’s Whitley Apartments, a luxury community in Austin, Texas. Installation was completed by Operto’s Professional Services team, and early returns have been promising. “We could not be happier,” said Sarah Aldridge, Community Manager at The Whitley. “We love the new operating systems and have received positive feedback from our guests regarding the streamlined process.”

Operto solves operational issues commonly faced by professional property managers and hosts. Operto’s flagship Smart Stay solution fully automates guest entry by programming unique entry codes for every reservation onto smart locks and intercoms. “Operto is the perfect fit for multifamily buildings by ensuring that only authorized guests are entering the building, and monitoring for noise and over-occupancies prevents disturbances to long-term residents,” says Michael Driedger.

In addition to secure self check-in and compliance monitoring, Operto provides energy savings through intelligent thermostat control. Smart alerts and cleaner scheduling reduce turnover time and repetitive tasks for property managers which drives efficiency and lowers costs.

Operto is currently working with hotels, vacation rentals, serviced apartments as well as more niche accommodation alternatives across North America, Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean.
