Praia D’el Rey’s remodelling reveals rooms with a new view

The rooms involved were the five-star resort’s ocean front and ocean premium accommodation with the now prevailing colours of blue, matte gold and light grey, reflecting Gabriel’s concept.

The beachside Praia D’el Rey Marriott Golf & Beach Resort begins the holiday season with a bright new look after its rooms were remodelled to the tune of nearly 1m. euros.

The renovations took their influence from nature and light, and architect Rita Gabriel, from the renowned Lisbon-based Philosophy of Space practice, based her design concept around natural woods, gold-coloured metals and complementary lighting, with the blue of the ocean reflected in small detailing.

The rooms involved were the five-star resort’s ocean front and ocean premium accommodation with the now prevailing colours of blue, matte gold and light grey, reflecting Gabriel’s concept.

Gabriel said: “We wanted to bring nature and light into the rooms, thus softening their environment and making them more pleasurable and welcoming, and we used clear natural woods, light fabrics and gilded metals to achieve this concept. The blue of the sea is present in small details, and the combination of everything has helped to bathe each of the rooms in a new light.”

The room renovation follows swiftly on the heels of the upgrade of restaurant facilities at the luxury Lisbon resort.

With two 18-hole championship layouts including the stunning West Cliffs Golf Links – named ‘World’s Best New Golf Course’ at the 2017 World Golf Awards and one of the new stars of European golf – there’s also plenty to whet the appetites of golfers.

Featuring spectacular views of the Atlantic from every hole, the Cynthia Dye-designed layout only opened last summer but is already predicted to be the new number one in Portugal.

Both West Cliffs and Praia D’El Rey are ranked among the top courses in Europe, while players of all abilities can also improve their skills at the resort’s recently upgraded golf academy.

As well as golf, Praia D’El Rey boasts an extensive array of world-class sports, leisure and accommodation facilities including a Marriott hotel, a wide selection of villas, a tennis academy and wide range of watersports, and a luxury spa and health club, while the comprehensive range of therapies and treatments on offer at the Kalyan Spa promise to restore energy and balance to the body after a day at the beach.
