Pulkovo Airport increases passenger traffic by 11% for the first seven months of 2018

In the first seven months of 2018, Pulkovo Airport handled 94,162 take-off and landing operations, which is an increase of 9% year-on-year.

From January to July 2018, Pulkovo St. Petersburg Airport welcomed 10,054,894 passengers, a number 11% higher than in the same period of 2017.

Domestic traffic grew by 7% to 6,082,713 passengers. International traffic increased by 17.7% and amounted to 3,972,181 passengers.

In the first seven months of 2018, Pulkovo Airport handled 94,162 take-off and landing operations, which is an increase of 9% year-on-year. The maximum take-off weight handled amounted to 3,333,582 tons, a figure 10.9% higher than in the same period of 2017.

In the first seven months of 2018, Rossiya Airlines, Aeroflot, S7 Airlines, Pobeda and Ural Airlines were the largest Russian carriers in terms of passenger numbers at Pulkovo. In total, they provided services to 5,944,182 passengers at St. Petersburg Airport or 59.1% of the total traffic for that period.

Among foreign airlines, Lufthansa, Belavia, Uzbekistan Airways, KLM, and Emirates became the leaders at St. Petersburg Airport for the 7-month period of 2018. In total, they handled 713,126 passengers at Pulkovo or 7.1% of the total airport traffic.

Operational results for July 2018

In July 2018, 2,103,426 passengers traveled through Pulkovo St. Petersburg Airport, a number 9.7% higher than in the same month of 2017. Domestic traffic increased by 10.8% to 1,179,975 passengers compared to the same period of 2017. International traffic grew by 8.4% year-on-year and amounted to 923,451 passengers.

In July 2018, Pulkovo Airport handled 17,428 take-off and landing operations, which is an increase of 11.1% to the level of July 2017. The maximum take-off weight handled amounted to 653,090 tons, a figure 13% higher than in the same period of 2017.

In July 2018, Rossiya Airlines, Aeroflot, S7 Airlines, Ural Airlines, and Pobeda were the largest Russian carriers in terms of passenger numbers at Pulkovo. In total, they provided services to 1,220,280  passengers or 58% of the total traffic at St.Petersburg Airport for that period. Among foreign airlines the leaders were Lufthansa, Belavia, Uzbekistan Airways, Turkish Airlines, and KLM. In total, they handled 133,114 passengers at Pulkovo or 6.3% of the total airport traffic for July 2018.

In July 2018, Pulkovo Airport welcomed participants and fans of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The peak day, in terms of passenger traffic and take-offs and landings, was July 11, 2018, the day after the World Cup semi-final game between Belgium and France in St. Petersburg. In total, for the period of the 2018 FIFA World Cup 83 thousand football fans came to Pulkovo Airport using FAN ID.

St. Petersburg Pulkovo Airport is the fourth airport in Russia in terms of passenger numbers. Since 2010, the main operator of Pulkovo is Northern Capital Gateway LLC, an international consortium that manages the airport and implements its reconstruction and development project
