Qatar Airways celebrates new office opening in Muscat with Gala Dinner

The National Carrier of the State of Qatar operates 70 flights per week, serving three gateways in Oman: Muscat, Salalah and Sohar.

DOHA, QATAR – Qatar Airways celebrated the opening of its new office in Muscat with a glittering gala dinner held on Monday, 25 March at the Kempinski Hotel Muscat.

The event was attended by the Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, His Excellency Mr. Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah; the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Sultanate of Oman, His Excellency Mr. Ali Bin Fahad Al Hajri; Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, as well as many other prominent government representatives and business leaders.

Qatar Airways also hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday to officially open the new office, attended by the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Sultanate of Oman, His Excellency Mr. Ali Bin Fahad Al Hajri; the Chief Executive Officer of Oman Airports, Sheikh Aimen Ahmed Sultan Al Hosni; H.E. Mr. Al Baker, and a range of Omani government officials and trade partners.

Speaking at the gala event, H.E. Mr. Al Baker said: “We are here to celebrate the longstanding and important relationship Qatar Airways shares with the Sultanate of Oman. Oman has always been a key market for us, with 70 direct flights to three destinations in Oman, and will continue to be so in the future. Tonight we reaffirm our commitment to the Omani market, as we celebrate the opening of our beautiful new office in Muscat. We could not be more proud to be here this evening with our Omani partners to mark this occasion.”

The National Carrier of the State of Qatar has been flying to Oman since 2000, when it first began direct services to the Omani capital, Muscat. In 2013, Salalah was added to the airline’s expanding network as the second destination, followed by Sohar in 2017.

A multiple award-winning airline, Qatar Airways was named ‘World’s Best Business Class’ by the 2018 World Airline Awards, managed by international air transport rating organisation Skytrax. It was also named ‘Best Business Class Seat’, ‘Best Airline in the Middle East’, and ‘World’s Best First Class Airline Lounge’.

Qatar Airways seamlessly connects passengers from Oman to more than 160 destinations across six continents via its award-winning Hamad International Airport in Doha. The carrier will launch a host of exciting new destinations in 2019, including Lisbon, Portugal; Malta; Rabat, Morocco; Davao, Philippines; Langkawi, Malaysia; Izmir, Turkey; and Mogadishu, Somalia.
