Quality Cottages & Quality unearthed issue hygiene guidelines to owners for cleaning properties post-lockdown

The landscape of holiday home rentals worldwide will be totally changed by COVID-19, with many guests citing hygiene and cleanliness as being deciding factors in their ultimate choice of bookings.

Sister businesses Quality Cottages and Quality Unearthed have issued their owners with extensive new guidelines on Hygiene and Cleanliness, in an attempt to ensure that future bookers are on the receiving end of spotless stays post-Coronavirus.

Whilst both businesses currently have no one staying in any of their collective 700 properties – other than a small number who are housing key workers long-term – both Quality brands felt it was important to take advantage of the downtime to re-engage with their owners, to help standardise the cleaning processes.

Thom James, Head of Marketing at both Quality Cottages and Quality Unearthed, who helped put the document together, said “The hygiene and cleaning documents that we have sent out to the owners was a very important step for us to take. ‘Quality’ is not just a brand, it’s our name and our ethos, and there is a reason for that. We have always prided ourselves on making sure owners provide clean, tidy and hygienic stays for each and every guest, but we know that whenever the time comes that our properties all over Wales, the UK and France can re-open, we owe it to our returning and future customers to ensure that these standards are higher than ever.”

The landscape of holiday home rentals worldwide will be totally changed by COVID-19, with many guests citing hygiene and cleanliness as being deciding factors in their ultimate choice of bookings.

Quality Cottages and Quality Unearthed felt it was only right to address the potential concerns of guests, and the documents have so far been well-received by all owners who, despite already exacting high standards in their abodes, are also keen to make sure that guests feel as safe as possible, whenever the day comes that they are allowed to return.

The cleaning documents both differ slightly from brand to brand, as the businesses cover different territories. However, the guidelines for both businesses are fundamentally the same, and already have been issued, despite no firm dates yet as to when short-term rental can resume. The businesses felt that waiting until this seemed a more likely scenario was counterproductive, and they wanted their owner groups to have as much time as possible to carry out and absorb these guidelines.
