Quito awarded WTTC’s Safe Travels Stamp

The highly regarded Safe Travels stamp allows travelers to recognize Quito as a safe destination, that provides an authentic and meaningful travel experience, while ensuring the safety of both workforce and travelers.

QUITO, ECUADOR – Quito, the capital city of Ecuador, is awarded World Travel & Tourism Council’s Safe Travels Stamp, in recognition of its compliance with health and hygiene standardized protocols for the travel industry, as well as its effective efforts in aligning the sector to adapt to the new normal, so consumers could experience safe travels.

The Mayor of Quito, Dr. Jorge Yunda Machado, received today the designation from Ecuador’s Minister of Tourism, Rosi Prado de Holguin, on behalf of the WTTC.

The highly regarded Safe Travels stamp allows travelers to recognize Quito as a safe destination, that provides an authentic and meaningful travel experience, while ensuring the safety of both workforce and travelers.

This achievement is the result of collective efforts and involvement of local tourism stakeholders (public and private), to align to and properly implement the biosafety protocols due to the Covid-19 impact.

As part of a robust recovery plan, Quito Tourism Board has been working diligently in developing and executing meaningful actions to optimize the industry’s efforts for recovery through continuous updates and insights, virtual trainings to adapt to the new reality, distribution and guidance on protocols’ implementation, as well as assistance with particular needs of the sector. All this resulted in more than 38 virtual webinars, 1,560 trained people and personalized counselling services to 1,699 tourism business in the city.

Tourism is one of the most resilient industries and allows for a quick recovery after a crisis, that’s why Quito Tourism Board’s priority is to build on consumer’s trust to travel to Quito and be part of its journey, since the planning and booking steps, during the entire travel experience in the city, and after his safe return home. Tourism is key for supporting the livelihood of millions in the community and contributes to economic growth.
