Restel, first hotel reservation center to begin integration with a Cuban hotel chain

The company belonging to Grupo Hotusa has just signed an agreement to directly integrate Cubanacan’s 50 establishments into their platform. Currently, Restel markets more than 200,000 hotels around the world to the 30,000 travel agencies with which they have agreements.

BARCELONA – Restel, the hotel reservation center belonging to Grupo Hotusa, has incorporated the 50 establishments of the Cubanacan chain. The agreement marks a milestone as it is the first direct integration agreement made by an international operator with a Cuban hotel chain. Restel currently markets more than 200,000 hotels around the world on its platform.

In the words of the general manager of Restel, Carlos del Estal: “We are proud that Restel is the first reservation center to establish direct integration with a Cuban chain, which makes us one of the most qualified hotel distributors in the world for travel agencies in that destination.” Del Estal also assures that “this operation forms part of a global strategy to increase the presence of Hotusa Group’s different business lines on the island.”

Niurka Perez Denis, Sales director for Cubanacan affirms that “Cubanacan Hotels, in the last ten years, has been working with the latest technology related to the development of its tourist accommodation capacity distribution with two specific objectives. First, to achieve the maximum reach of our chain’s global presence in the tourist industry, and second, through the distribution of these capabilities at present, maximise the occupation and profitability of each of the chain’s establishments through sustained growth in a destination like Cuba that in the past few years has already exceeded three million visitors.”

Months ago, teams from both companies began working toward a direct integration agreement with their reservation systems, which was reached this week. This agreement will allow Restel to reach the Cuban chain’s inventory in a much more direct and efficient way, offering their 9,000 rooms to the more than 30,000 travel agencies with which they have agreements.
