Revealed: The cities to travel to in 2019 that won’t break the bank

Lastminute.com reveals the best saver city destinations that won’t break the bank for holidaymakers looking for their next adventure. Cairo comes in at first place on the Worldwide Saver Cities list with low costs for food and drinks, accommodation, and admission for the top tourist attraction a (full-day tour from Cairo: Giza Pyramids, Sphinx, Memphis, and Saqqara).

Luckily lastminute.com have come to the rescue with their new study which looks to help travellers with their spending, depending on their holiday budgets. Most Affordable Cities
Travelling to new places is a great way to discover other cultures, but an issue many of us face is financing our much-wanted getaways. Considering the price of transport, our meals, and the price of accommodation, lastminute.com have analysed the most budget-friendly cities to explore:

  • Cairo, Egypt – The Egyptian capital has much to offer travellers: the iconic Giza Pyramids, the acclaimed Khan El-Khalili marketplace, and the vast Egyptian museum which is home to 5,000-year-old artifacts. An average day in the city will cost you £42.38 which includes the cost of a full day tour priced at £11.30 and the average price of transport at £4.19.
  • Mexico City, Mexico – The high-altitude capital of Mexico sits at 2,250m above sea level and is commonly known for its 13th-century Aztec temple, Templo Mayor. Mexico  City comes in at second place on the Saver Cities list due to its affordability. The total price of food for a day in the city is £15.77 and includes the price of a single meal, a beer, coffee and the price of a bottle of wine. In total, you can expect to pay around £63.76 a day.
  • Antalya, Turkey – The Turkish resort city is renowned for its yacht-filled harbour and beautiful beaches flanked with large hotels. It has a lot to offer visitors from the alluring Duden Waterfalls to Hadrian’s Gate, built in the name of the Roman Emperor Hadrian. A day in Antalya can set you back £67.13 which includes accommodation at £11.00 per night, the second cheapest of the study.

Top 10 Most Expensive Cities Per Minute
When it comes to breaking the bank on holiday there are 101 ways you can spend your hard-earned cash. By analysing all the spending areas where tourists are expected to part with their money, lasminute.com have calculated the hourly cost of being in each city for 24 hours. These 10 cities came out as the most expensive:

The study found that 50% of all the top 10 most expensive destinations are located in the North American continent, with three cities inside the USA and the remaining two in Canada.

The Cheapest Places for Holiday Essentials
Keeping an eye on your bank balance can take the fun out of your holiday, but be ing aware of how much you can expect in advance to spend can ease that stress and bring the enjoyment back into your trip. The study revealed that the most affordable city for accommodation and transport was Antalya which came in at £12.24, whilst Buenos Aires topped the list as the city with the most fairly priced food and drinks totalling £9.93. However, Mumbai, India was found to have the cheapest attraction for their visitors, the Tiffany's Cabaret Show in Pattaya. Here are our top three tips for keeping track of holiday spending:

  • Take a Pre-Paid or Overseas Card With You: Using a Visa Card, you can pay in any shop worldwide where Visa cards are accepted, as well as withdraw cash from Visa-branded ATMs. With cards such as the lm card, you can complete online purchases safe in the knowledge that you will be getting better rates than most high-street bureau de change and banks, as the card intelligently selects the local currency to ensure the best rate.
  • Hit Up January Sales: Take advantage of off-season deals, especially in January. A number of holiday providers release package deals at the beginning of the year in order to tempt customers into booking their summer trip early. Be sure to compare package deals and traditional DIY holidays to find the best value for your money.
  • Budget Your Spending Ahead of Time: As you pull together your holiday itinerary, take note of the cash you intend to spend over the course of your break and work this out day-by-day. Doing this means you will arrive back home feeling refreshed rather than worrying about the debts you incurred whilst on your break.
