Club Med have revealed the world’s top family-friendly ski resorts in a brand new study that takes the weight of parents' shoulders and provides budding skiers with a definitive final list of 50 resorts from all over the world.
Many families are looking to plan ahead and take their children away on a much needed break away in 2021, but with some ski resorts prioritising the party lifestyle and others simply proving to be too difficult for children, we’ve put together a list of the top family-friendly ski resorts for your future ski vacation.
Club Med analysed a number of data points to assess which ski resorts are best for a family getaway:
- Snow reliability - the chance that the ski resort will be nice and snowy
- Hygiene - how hygienic the resort is
- Easy ski slopes - the percentage of ski slopes that are accessible for children
- Air quality - how clean the air is
- Number of child-friendly restaurants - so that the kids have plenty of choice where to eat
- Number of 4-5* accommodation - so that parents have plenty of choice of top quality accommodation options
And the results are in:
|Rank||Ski Resort||Country||Family-Friendly Ski Index Score|
Tignes in France is the number 1 family-friendly resort
The study reveals that of all the ski resorts in the entire world, Tignes in France is the best place to take a family holiday. Families will feel dizzy with excitement when they arrive at this spectacular resort, which boasts an abundance of ski runs, 57% of which are easy, lots of outstanding accommodation options and swish child-friendly eateries, all covered in the areas ever reliable snow fall.
Although Tignes is closed due to the lockdown in France, it is due to reopen December 1st.
Baqueira Beret in Spain lands at number 2
Baqueira Beret in Spain comes in second, a ski resort that’s possibly Europe’s best-kept secret. One of the largest resorts in the region, Baqueira Beret! has direct access to over 150km of downhill skiing, including 78 marked pistes, which are served by a total of 33 ski lifts. This breathtaking spot on French/Spanish border really is a local tailored perfectly to provide an unforgettable family experience.
Baqueira Beret expects to open the first week of December, conditions permitting.
La Plagne in France is the third best in the world
Another contender from France, La Plagne comes in as the third best family-friendly ski resort in the world. La Plagne has over 220km of marked pistes, and a variety of wide and gentle runs for your little snow angels to get to grips with. For run quality alone, it could be argued that La Plagne ensures the best possible experience, of all the resorts, for people of all ages to zip through the freshly fallen white crushy snow of the french alps.
La Plagne is planning to open on 12th of December as normal.
Estelle Giraudeau, UK & Northern Europe MD of Club Med, says "Skiing in Europe benefits from being a short-haul holiday, which is accessible by a wide range of transport options and ultimately results in the customer spending a great deal of time outdoors, making it one of the safer holiday options this winter. The ski domains are working hard to ensure skiers are kept safe both in-resort and on the slopes."
