Rotterdam Marriott Hotel upgrades VingCard classic RFID with mobile access by ASSA ABLOY global solutions

Modern high-rise hotel leverages future-proof technology to seamlessly update magstripe-based locks to VingCard Classic RFID alongside providing guests with self check-in and guestroom entry via the Marriott Bonvoy app.

STOCKHOLM – ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions, a leading provider of advanced security technology for the hospitality industry, has announced the successful upgrade of its VingCard locks at the Rotterdam Marriott Hotel to VingCard Classic RFID with Mobile Access. A spacious and modern hotel located within The Netherlands, Rotterdam Marriott Hotel was significantly able to maximize building security and minimize guest infection risks by updating their VingCard locking system to the latest versions

Originally equipped with a previous VingCard Mag stripe lock model installed in 2001 which offered the benefits of a 20-year lifespan, Rotterdam Marriott Hotel has been able to keep pace with ongoing advances in security access technology thanks to the design of VingCard locks which eliminate any need for additional drilling when upgrading to a newer solution. Rotterdam Marriott Hotel recognized that growing guest demands for enhanced safety alongside Marriott brand requirements necessitated an upgrade of the property’s security access infrastructure. With VingCard lock technology already present at the property, hotel leadership could sidestep unnecessary complex installations and integrations when seeking to upgrade to advanced RFID security and Mobile Access-compatible services. With the simple replacing of VingCard Classic locks with the latest Classic model featuring both RFID and BLE capabilities, the property can now benefit from advanced technology that eliminates the risk of unauthorized keycard cloning while preventing guests from being inconvenienced by de-magnetized keycards. With instant Mobile Access compatibility, VingCard Classic RFID also ensures that the property can align with Marriott brand requirements to provide guests with a contactless alternative to checking in and accessing guestrooms.

Hotel business and guest needs can change very suddenly in today’s market environment so it is crucial that providers can supply technology able to evolve alongside current trends in order to continue meeting guest expectations, significantly without resulting in costly investments each time a new feature becomes available,” said Guus Verhulst, Executive Assistant Manager at Rotterdam Marriott Hotel. “ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions with its adaptable security access platforms represents the ideal combination of enhanced functionality and future-proof affordability that the industry requires. Following the company’s most recent implementation, we are fully confident in being able to meet guest expectations for enhanced security, convenience and hotel cleanliness in 2022 and far beyond.”

Available via the Marriott Bonvoy app, digital check-in and room entry significantly provides the property’s guests with the option to sidestep visiting the front desk where they may come into close contact with others. Guests can instead use personal devices to check-in and receive a digital key granting both instant and secure access to their guestrooms. Designed using ASSA ABLOY’s award-winning Seos technology, Mobile Access notably prevents any potential lapses in security by using the highest standard in data encryption and secure communication channels to deliver digital keys to guest devices.

Leveraging ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions’ reputation as a comprehensive security solutions provider, Rotterdam Marriott Hotel also features the company’s advanced line of Elsafe electronic safes in each guestroom. Relying on Elsafe technology to safeguard guest valuables for over 20 years, the property continues to ensure total guest peace of mind with safe features that include industry-leading encryption and anti-tamper labyrinth protocols. Offering a range of models, sizes and color options, Elsafe safes are further recognized for their ability to precisely match any specific hotel and guest needs.
