Ryanair renews with Navitaire to enhance the passenger experience

Agreement supports the carrier’s growth plans and its “Always Getting Better” customer experience program.

MINNEAPOLIS and DUBLIN, IRELAND – Ryanair has renewed its agreement with Navitaire, an Amadeus company. Under the terms of the contract, Ryanair will use the firm’s advanced ancillary and reservations solution including merchandizing, distribution, digital and departure control platforms until 2025, which will represent 25 years of collaboration between Ryanair and Navitaire.

Throughout the carrier’s storied success over the last 17 years, Ryanair has relied on Navitaire’s scalable, proven solutions to support its dramatic growth, drive strong ancillary revenue results, and help retain its position as the industry’s lowest operational cost structure and high profit airlines. The airline operates more than 360 aircraft, serves 200 airports in 33 countries, and carries 119 million annual passengers today. With 305 aircraft on order, Ryanair plans to reach the 200 million annual passenger mark by 2024.

Ryanair continues to unveil products and passenger service enhancements through its “Always Getting Better” (AGB) program. Now in its third year, AGB continues to gain momentum through new service, digital and inflight developments. Navitaire reservations and ancillary revenue platforms underpin these initiatives by enabling Ryanair to tap an extensive, diverse suite of APIs providing customizable building blocks to create programs and services to better serve and attract customers.

John Hurley, Ryanair CTO said: “Our partnership with Navitaire has helped us achieve consistent double-digit growth and higher profitability, enabling more customers to travel than ever before. Navitaire understands what’s important for our success, and offers the solutions we need to let us easily create ever-improving digital tools, ancillary services, powerful personalization capabilities and customer service enhancements to fulfill our upcoming growth plans.”

David P. Evans, Navitaire CEO, said “From the advent of ecommerce and retailing, Navitaire and Ryanair have long been recognized as visionaries and innovators driving strong business results. Just as Ryanair has defined and transformed low-cost travel, our New Skies platform was built to extend well beyond the boundaries of traditional passenger service system norms. It’s been an honor to support Ryanair’s growth from five million annual passengers when we started working together to achieve the stellar growth they enjoy today, and we look forward to helping them reach the 200 million target in the future.”

Navitaire provides technology and business solutions to the airline industry, powering more than 50 of the world’s leading low-cost and hybrid carriers. Its New Skies® reservations system is a digital, “e-commerce first” platform with comprehensive retailing, analytics and passenger personalization tools. The solution is designed for efficiency utilizing a single record approach, which manages both the offer and the order throughout the passenger lifecycle. Real-time data for on-demand decision making and omni-channel processing are hallmarks of New Skies, which have been leveraged extensively by airlines with clear leadership in innovation, such as Ryanair.
