Santa Clarita Valley has something for everyone

We have put together a list of some of the most popular activities in Santa Clarita.

Located 35 miles away from downtown LA in Santa Clarita Valley, Santa Clarita has, without a doubt, some of the most famous rolling hills that Hollywood has ever seen. If you've seen at least a couple of cowboy movies, you probably know exactly what we are talking about. But this is not the only reason why this place is popular and worth adding to your itinerary for your upcoming family road trip.

Depending on what you are looking for, we have put together a list of some of the most popular activities in Santa Clarita. The Six Flags Magic Mountain or the Hurricane Harbor, all the hiking and horseback riding opportunities are just a few of the most spectacular things to do here.

Adrenaline: Roller coaster for kids & adults
If you are all about adrenaline-pumping experiences, you should definitely plan and spend a day at the “Six Flags Magic Mountain”. This 262-acre theme park in Valencia has everything from great food to the world’s longest hybrid coaster. Take advantage of the towering roller coasters here if you are truly looking for something that will get your heart to pound fast – lots of people claim to have had a life-changing experience here. If you are searching for something less extreme, you could plan a ride for the entire family and take advantage of all the bonding moments.

The Magic Mountain also offers plenty of options for shopping lovers eager to go on an adrenaline-shopping spree while on vacation. There are also plenty of restaurants in the park, along with fun cartoon shows with your kids' favorite characters from classic cartoon shows. The only adrenaline-pumping activity you won’t find the park are casinos, but Santa Clarita has several of them and besides, there are always online options (you find them here).

Water: The most fun water park in the area
The Six Flags Hurricane Harbor water park can turn your Santa Clarita family vacation into a pleasant and relaxing one. The numerous water rides, mellow Lazy River cruiser and daredevil water slides shooting you down are just a few of the most enjoyable things you will find here. The sliding toboggans will allow you to race against your friends or kids, while the shallow pools for children, the lagoon or the Kid Zone will keep your small ones busy for hours.

You can have dinner at one of the many restaurants that the water park also hosts. If you are in the mood for some Italian food, some tasty ribs and corn or other American dishes, you will find everything your heart desires here.

Animals: Learn about the Gibbons
Perhaps less known is the Gibbon Conservation Center. They opened their gates to the public in 1876 and has dedicated its activity and efforts to preserving and researching Gibbons ever since. If you are curious about seeing these funny primates in flesh and bones, you can schedule a weekend visit here. The center is open starting 10 in the morning, no booking in advance necessary. Private tours are also available every week, in exchange for a small fee. The tours are managed by skilled and friendly staff along with sharing the same passion for primate breeding research. Expect to visit all center areas and be bombarded with an impressive amount of interesting information.

Nature: Visit the Placerita Canyon Nature Center
Big fan of willow trees and oaks? Come take a hike on one of the numerous trails here or simply walking on one of the relaxing walking trails the center has to offer. Stop by the mesmerizing waterfall, go on a picnic and take your dog along – pets are allowed here, just don't forget to pack the leash. Self-guided tours are also possible with the help of the informative presentations you can also come across in the nature center.

Casinos: From low roller to high roller
Diamond Jim's Casino hosts live gaming 24 hours a day, seven days a week, along with big jackpots and a generous number of tourneys for passionate players eager to taste the local gambling experience in a unique way. The casino has surprising car and cash giveaways and if you happen to be a big card game lover, you are going to find this friendly venue pleasant and satisfying.
