Seven must-know tips before traveling on a luxury yacht charter

Before you board a yacht charter, however, there are some things you’ll want to keep in mind. Here are seven must-know tips that will allow you to have the holiday at sea that you deserve.

Getting the chance to explore the seas on a yacht charter is an amazing experience. A yacht charter gives you the chance to have your own private holiday at sea with a small group of your family or friends.

The vacation is entirely in your hands.

You’ll have your own private crew to sail the yacht, cook your food, and take care of maintaining the yacht. It is completely up to you to determine where you want to stop, when you want to stop, and what you want to do when you stop.

If you want to spend your days lounging on the yacht with some occasional dips into the ocean, you can. Or if you want to stop at a nearby port to enjoy a cultural experience, you can. If you want to spend the day snoozing away while the ship sails and then stop at a nightclub in the evening, you can.

Before you board a yacht charter, however, there are some things you’ll want to keep in mind. Here are seven must-know tips that will allow you to have the holiday at sea that you deserve.

Figure out where you want to go
There is a lot of freedom where you can go with a yacht charter. No matter if you want to visit Italy, head to Thailand, or even hang out along the coast of Florida, you can. However, keep in mind that certain yachts go to certain destinations. For example, the Legenda Yacht travels around the Mediterranean Sea. Knowing where you want to go will allow you to find the right yacht to travel on.

Get a clean bill of health
Whenever you travel, there is always the possibility that you’ll be exposed to illnesses that don’t exist in your country. Once you know where you’re headed, visit your doctor to make sure that you have all the necessary vaccinations that you need. Travel vaccinations will help keep you healthy during your travels. Also, make sure to get your prescriptions filled before you set sail.

Pack accordingly
You may have a limited amount of storage space on the yacht. With that in mind, you’re going to want to pack only the essentials. If you’re planning on spending the majority of the time on the yacht, there isn’t any need to pack business attire. Most of the time, you’ll be able to get away with a swimsuit, several t-shirts, a few pairs of jeans, and a lightweight sweater.

Meal plan in advance
Even if you’re going to have your own private chef on board, you’re still going to need to do some meal planning. There are days where you might want to eat on the yacht, but there are also days when you’re going to want to eat at a restaurant. You’ll also want to let the crew know of any allergies or food accommodations that you might need.

Ditch your phone
Your holiday at sea is meant to be a time for you to relax and get away from the stresses of your everyday life. If you’re constantly checking work email or looking at social media, the purpose of going away is defeated. Sometimes people get so absorbed in their phones that they forget to enjoy the trip. Not only that, but your current plan might not cover international travel, and you could end up with an expensive bill. If you want to take pictures while traveling, use a camera.

Prepare for the sun
While you’re on the yacht, you’re going to be exposed to UV rays that are much more powerful than the ones you’re used to. A painful sunburn could make your trip miserable, so make sure that you regularly apply sunscreen. Ask the crew if they have an SPF recommendation. You can also consider covering up with sunhats or rashguards. Also, don’t forget to drink plenty of water!

Listen to the crew
The crew aboard the yacht are professionals that know how to sail the seas. If they warn you about applying sunscreen or give you safety advice such as not coming up on deck while it is storming, listen to them! They are there to keep you safe on the travels. Also, don’t forget to be transparent with them about any concerns you have, such as sea sickness or allergies.

Final thoughts
A trip at sea in a luxury yacht charter is an incredible experience that you’re sure to remember for the rest of your life. By adequately preparing for the trip and knowing what to expect while you’re on the yacht, you’re sure to have the best possible experience.
