SSP, a leading operator of food and beverage outlets in travel locations worldwide, has unveiled the details of a 428 million euros contract to operate 22 units at Montparnasse station in Paris.

The outlets will include a range of premium brands from celebrated French chefs. Among these are Pierre Herme, who has been named “World's Best Pastry Chef” by The World's 50 Best Restaurants, well-known young artisan baker Gontran Cherrier, and new talented pastry chefs Yann Couvreur and Christophe Adam. There will also be a Starbucks store, a healthy grab-and-go restaurant called EXKi, a restaurant from leading French premium burger brand Big Fernand and French bakery and cafe Brioche Doree. The units will be located across all four levels of the station as well as in the metro station.

Gerard d’Onofrio, MD of SSP France and Benelux, said; “We are delighted to have won this contract and to be involved in the new development of this iconic station. We are confident that our new units will delight the broad range of passengers who travel through the station, whether they are local commuters or international travellers. The varied mix of brands will showcase everything from exciting concepts from renowned French chefs to popular and well-known names – and has been carefully crafted to meet the needs of passengers travelling through a thriving metropolitan city."

The openings will take place across three phases with the first opening of 14 units set for December 2018. This will be followed by the opening of three units in December 2019 and five more units in October 2020.

Gare Montparnasse, one of France’s busiest stations, is expected to welcome 90 million passengers in 2020 and is currently undergoing a major reconstruction. The redevelopment project, entitled “Montparnasse 2020”, is led by the highly-regarded French architect Patrick Jouin and Sanjit Manku.
