Traveling can be a huge stress in the midst of holiday season, especially for those who struggle with their nightly slumber. From jet lag and insomnia to sleepwalking and sleep eating (that’s a new one), my team was curious to see how sleep disorders will impact holiday vacations for people across the U.S.
- Over half of people with a sleep disorder plan to travel this holiday season, yet, 38% avoid long car rides and 15% avoid flying because of their condition
- 1 in 10 miss their flight because their medications or CPAP machine are held up by security
- The top 5 challenges of traveling with a sleep disorder are:
– Staying up too late and being tired (71%)
– Keeping other people awake (46%)
– Sleeping in too late and missing events (35%)
– Waking other people up (27%)
– traveling with a CPAP machine (17%)
