Alongside the festival, on Saturday 20 July 2019, the Region of Attica organised a special “Masterclass” gastronomic presentation at the “Cinnamon Masterclass Theatre sponsored by the Greek National Tourism Organisation”, highlighting typical products of Attica’s land.
The Region of Attica participated with great success in the National Geographic Traveller Food Festival, the leading gastronomic event that was held 20-21 July 2019, at the Business Design Centre, in North London, organised by the well-respected and universally acclaimed magazine National Geographic Traveller.
At the invitation of the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO) Office in the United Kingdom and Ireland, the Region of Attica participated in this targeted tourism promotional action as GNTO’s co-exhibitor, communicating to the British audience the multitude of possibilities for all year round, short break holidays offered in Attica, this time emphasising on the region’s gastronomic offering. The audience had the opportunity to experience the extraordinary flavours of Attica’s traditional products, local recipes and unique wines.
Alongside the festival, on Saturday 20 July 2019, the Region of Attica organised a special “Masterclass” gastronomic presentation at the “Cinnamon Masterclass Theatre sponsored by the Greek National Tourism Organisation”, highlighting typical products of Attica’s land. The presentation was conducted by Executive Chef, Asimakis Chaniotis, the first Michelin awarded Greek chef outside Greece and the youngest in London with this distinction.
The talented chef and his brigade prepared a modern version of “Brunch in Attica”, as they named it, based on Kythera olive oil rusks, tomatoes, capers, feta cheese, olive oil, Aegina fistiki (pistachio) and Savvatiano wine, which thrilled the large audience that attended the presentation and savoured the original recipes.
Both the internationally acclaimed chef and the Head of the Directorate of Tourism, Ms Athina Kolyva, who represented the Region of Attica, emphasised on the endless choices that Attica’s food scene has to offer.
Attica’s gastronomic routes, combined with the inspiration of talented chefs and the extraordinary wealth of quality ingredients and delicious local produce, astonish Attica’s visitors with their variety. From small traditional tavernas to awarded restaurants, from visitable wineries and street food to hotel restaurants with high-standard international cuisine, gastronomic choices and experiences in Attica are countless and absolutely unique.
