Commencing Saturday, December 17, 2016 and running weekly until April 1, 2017, the new flight service will provide vacationers with easy access to the Bahamian capital.

TORONTO – Sunwing is bringing the Islands of the Bahamas a little closer to Winnipeg residents this winter with the introduction of a brand new direct flight service from Winnipeg to Nassau. Commencing Saturday, December 17, 2016 and running weekly until April 1, 2017, the new flight service will provide vacationers with easy access to the Bahamian capital. Boasting white-sand beaches, an easy-going pace and consistently pleasant weather year-round, Nassau is home to plenty of attractions including Atlantis Paradise Island – a world-class leisure resort that offers a dolphin cay, waterpark, casino, spa, golf course, children's activities and multiple restaurants and bars. To coincide with the new route, the travel company has also introduced new all inclusive packages at several of the island's top-rated resorts; ensuring that travellers can make their budget go even further on their ideal winter vacation.

President of Tour Operations, Andrew Dawson commented, "We are pleased to be adding this brand new service from Winnipeg this winter. Nassau is a varied destination with something to offer travellers all of ages, so the addition of more all inclusive packages to discover this vacation hotspot is welcome news."

"Direct flights from Winnipeg Richardson International Airport to a major sun destination like Nassau gives our community another option for a winter getaway" said Scott Marohn, Director of Air Service and Product Development with the Winnipeg Airports Authority. "This new route means you can leave Winnipeg and be on the beach in Nassau in less than five hours."

Canada's #1 to the Sun, Sunwing offers a number of value added packages to ensure vacationers make the most of their time in this vibrant destination. For the first time this winter, the travel company is offering all inclusive packages to stay at Atlantis Paradise Island. Home to the largest casino in the Caribbean, the Aquaventure waterpark and the Dolphin Cay, the resort boasts plenty of other amenities and activities guests can take advantage of such as testing their swing at Ocean Golf Club Academy – one of The Islands of The Bahamas' premier golf courses – or snorkelling in the ruins of the 'Lost City of Atlantis'.

Recently refurbished, Riu Palace Paradise Island combines a stunning white-sand beachfront situated close to Atlantis Paradise Island. When guests are not out exploring, they can relax by the inviting pool, enjoy a spa treatment or sample one of the many complimentary land and water sports offered. Exclusively available as part of the tour operator's Signature Collection, vacationers also benefit from unlimited a la carte dining and international drinks, in room liquor dispenser, free Wi-Fi throughout, spa credit and more.

All Sunwing packages to Nassau include return flights on Sunwing Airlines where passengers can sit back and relax on board with award-winning Champagne Service that includes a sparkling wine toast, complimentary non-alcoholic beverage service and buy on board selection of light meals and snacks with choices inspired by Food Network Canada Celebrity Chef, Lynn Crawford. Passengers also benefit from a generous complimentary 23kg checked luggage allowance.
