Taking off with takeaways

Soaring to a height of 1,000ft, the Charter-A Ltd and Deliveroo partnership isn’t quite offering mile-high munching, but with carbon offsets in place, this is an exciting experience for a modern consumer base that is as ethically driven as it is hungry – and the reviews are speaking for themselves.

The London skyline looks set to be a whole lot more colourful thanks to a unique partnership between Charter-A Ltd and Deliveroo that will see takeaway diners enjoying their favourite meals while flying past famous landmarks in the capital in a helicopter.

Foodies and flying enthusiasts alike are now able to book a flight on the ‘Roocopter’, decked out in Deliveroo’s striking teal livery, in order to experience high-level dining, but bookings are selling out fast. The inaugural day’s flights were snapped up in mere hours of the initiative being launched, with 48 lucky passengers enjoying breakfast, lunch and dinner from a variety of well-known restaurant chains.

Sarah Cox, a TFL worker and one of the first passengers, said: “Flying past The Shard eating tacos is one of the most memorable meals and experiences of my life. I’ve never flown in a helicopter before and to do this over my lunch break has completely changed my week and my life. I hope it happens more – it’s a great thing for our city.”

Even those without a head for heights have been going along for the ride, as Kimberly Allain, an NHS worker, confirmed: “I’m actually not even sure why I signed up for this, I hate heights! But I love food and it was something I will never forget.”

Discussing the partnership, Mark Zaiger, owner of Charter-A Ltd, revealed: "From the moment they first approached us, Deliveroo have been amazing to work with. They are a young team and incredibly creative, and it has been fascinating to see the campaign from first thoughts to flight."

"We can now add Deliveroo to a strong list of successful corporate partnerships that also includes Nike and the National Lottery. We have seen a big increase in business enquiries as people's taste for never-forget experiences continues to grow, and we look forward to announcing new tie-ups soon.”

Deliveroo’s Joe Groves has been equally as delighted with the idea, adding that: “At Deliveroo we want to bring amazing and memorable food experiences to our customers, wherever they are – be that a local park, office, the comfort of your home or 1,000ft in the air.”
