If you are planning a holiday to the UK and consider yourself something of a foodie, you may be interested to learn where the best fine dining experiences are. Most people always assume that the capital London is the only place you can get really exquisite food, but there are actually plenty of places dotted around the country that can offer unforgettable holidays, and some seriously good Michelin starred dining. So, here are a few places you can base yourself when you visit the UK and the best fine dining restaurants that go with them.

Cornwall
Tucked neatly right at the bottom of the UK Cornwall is the last county in the country to the West. It is something of a surfer's paradise, especially if you head to Newquay who hosts the run to the sun festival each year. Hundreds of VW camper van drivers flock to the site, and the experience is something that you never find anywhere else. There is also a thriving fishing industry in Cornwall, and some of the fishing ports are home to the best fine dining experiences you will ever experience. When it comes to eating you cannot do any better than Nathan Outlaw which is a restaurant found in port Isaac Cornwall. This is a popular area for foodie's, and to eat in this establishment will cost you upwards of £100 and you must book in advance. Naturally, some of the most popular items on the menu contain sustainable seafood which has been caught that day in the local area. There is a set lunch menu and a full dinner and lunch offering as well.

Nottingham
Not just legendary for the Sheriff of Nottingham and Robin Hood, this area is packed full of plenty of tourist attractions and things to see. In Lenton, Nottingham you will find two-star Michelin restaurant Sat Bains and a wide range of culinary delights to tickle your taste buds. The restaurant boasts a creative modern British cuisine and offers a 7 and 10-course tasting menu format. There are seven luxury bedrooms so you can even stay where you're going to eat, and you can dine at the chef's table, but be warned, this is an incredibly popular place to dine, so booking is absolutely essential. They serve lunch from Wednesday to Saturday, dinners from Wednesday to Thursday until 9:30 PM and again on Friday and Saturday.

Oxfordshire
Not that far from Oxford itself, where most people will have heard of the famous University, and the staging for several detectives shows including Lewis. Over in Great Milton, you will find everything that typifies the beautiful nature of the Cotswold countryside. With stunning gardens and picturesque scenery, you will be glad you chose to stay in this area. When it comes to the finest of dining why not check out Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons Which is a thoroughly delightful hotel set in a fantastic background and offering the best of gastronomic delight. You can choose from vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options, and the menu is undoubtedly impressive. The precedent for tables is given to hotel guests, so if you are not staying there, be sure to book if you want to sample the food.

Birmingham
One of the biggest cities in the UK, Birmingham, has plenty of things for tourists to explore. Nestled in the city centre, British Michelin starred modern restaurant Adam's which is hosted by Adam Stokes and wife Natasha Stokes and this provides the most delightful dining options you will find in the area. If you are looking for a function venue, there is also an 18-seat dining room adjacent to the property that can be booked for just such an event. The food is delicious, and the menu is modern and once more booking is vital if you want to sample this delightful.

Edinburgh
Edinburgh in Scotland is always a popular tourist destination, and it is steeped in history and offers plenty for visiting guests. If you head this way you will find more than one incredible fine dining option and here are two of our favourites. Firstly, we have Aizel who offer a changing six-course menu based on local and seasonal products. They also have an extensive wine and cocktail list on offer, and you can enjoy the seasonal delights of the local area such as Partridge, Scottish beef, and white chocolate- bet you didn't know that chocolate was produced in the area. Number One at The Balmoral is our second choice, and this is a one-star Michelin restaurant. Guests can also stay at the Balmoral Hotel, and they have an extensive menu, including traditional Scottish offerings. While you eat your dinner, you can admire the Royal College of Art display that hangs on the walls.  Remember, if you are not a guest at the hotel book well in advance.
