The Grand, York appoints Aziza Yessi as new Sales Manager

Aziza Yessi has experience working in roles to facilitate target-driven sales and creative marketing activities.

In light of its recent rebrand and the opening of a new cookery school, Aziza Yessi has been appointed as Sales Manager at AA five-star hotel, The Grand, York.

Bringing a deep understanding of global luxury to The Grand, York, Aziza has worked in five-star establishments around the world, with previous roles in Europe and Asia. She brings a comprehension of the international market and the rising expectations for inbound tourism to her role as Sales Manager at The Grand, York.

Aziza has experience working in roles to facilitate target-driven sales and creative marketing activities. Having obtained a Masters degree in Tourism and Hospitality in Cyprus, Aziza joins The Grand, York from Villa Hotels, Maldives where she looked after all five properties. She strategized and implemented a sales and marketing plan to break into the Russian and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) market, where she successfully led the company into new business in 11 CIS countries.

Priding herself on the cultivation of strategic partnerships in a greater initiative to boost sales and reduce marketing costs, Aziza will now work alongside Louise Gee, The Grand, York’s Director of Sales to develop business leads for the hotel, both internationally and locally.

Speaking on her appointment, Aziza said, “I am thrilled to take on this role in such a landmark venue and can’t wait to start applying the knowledge of international markets that I have acquired throughout my career to this stunning venue. The team have been wonderfully welcoming and prospective guests are hugely positive about the hotel which is brilliant to experience already.”

Philip Bolson, General Manager at The Grand, York, said: “We are delighted to expand our highly capable sales team to include Aziza. Her international background is a huge benefit to the hotel as we strive to reach new audiences and deepen our connection in both the Asian and American markets.”

Built by North Eastern Railway, one of the most powerful railway companies in Edwardian England, the ‘Palace of Business’, as The Grand, York was commonly known, was its headquarters for a century. Now into its tenth year of operating as York’s only AA five-star hotel, Aziza joins the team at a pivotal time as The Grand, York has just undergone its first major rebrand as part of a £15 million refurbishment, including the opening of 100 new bedrooms and The Cookery School which launched in March 2019.
