The World Youth and Student Travel Conference will run as a hybrid event this October

Due to ongoing uncertainty around travel restrictions, WYSTC 2021 will be run as a hybrid conference, with both in-person and virtual possibilities for participation.

The World Youth and Student Travel Conference (WYSTC), inaugurated in 1992 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, has become a key annual fixture in the calendars of buyers and sellers operating within the global youth, student and educational travel industry.

Due to ongoing uncertainty around travel restrictions, WYSTC 2021 will be run as a hybrid conference, with both in-person and virtual possibilities for participation.

“After a difficult 18 months for everyone in the travel business, we are delighted to be able to stage a hybrid version of WYSTC this year. The in-person component will take place in Lisbon, with capacity limited to around 100 delegates, while those preferring a virtual experience, can easily participate in WYSTC online," said David Chapman, Director General of WYSE Travel Confederation, organisers of WYSTC.

WYSTC 2021 delegates will have the opportunity to meet over 100 global buyers, be it in-person in Lisbon or online. The set-up of the event ensures that in-person attendees can pre-schedule one-to-one business appointments with both online and in-person delegates, and vice versa. The majority of speakers will participate virtually and for convenience across all time zones, educational sessions will be available for playback on demand.

To ensure the safe delivery of the in-person event experience, WYSE Travel Confederation is keeping abreast of updates to regulations in Portugal and will follow the advice of the local health authorities. The conference venue, Hotel Corinthia Lisbon, has been awarded the Turismo de Portugal Clean & Safe seal and is committed to adhering to social distancing and sanitation guidelines. Delegates will also be tested upon arrival and at regular intervals throughout the event.

“Turismo de Portugal is extremely proud to welcome the World Youth and Student Travel Conference (WYSTC),” said Luís Araújo, President of Turismo de Portugal. “Since the beginning of the pandemic, the Portuguese tourism industry has worked tirelessly to implement protocols, such as the Clean & Safe seal, to ensure the safety of our visitors and residents, and we stand by our mission of providing the best tourism experience with the highest safety standards.”

“We are leaders in the education and training of tourism human resources, and therefore extremely close to youth, student and educational issues,” Luís added.
