These are the 10 most Instagrammable theme parks

From fairytale castles and Ferraris, to trips around the world, theme parks offer up a huge amount of fun for all the family. They also offer up the perfect opportunities to capture happy memories with your loved ones that can be treasured for years to come. 

As part of its new Best Value Theme Park Report, the personal finance experts at money.co.uk have compiled a list of the most Instagrammable theme parks in the world based on the number of hashtag mentions they boast on the social media site. 

If your idea of a dream day out involves capturing the endless fun to be had on death-defying roller coasters and rides, then these are the next destinations to add your bucket list:

Disneyland Paris, France
It’s no surprise that the magical Disneyland Paris takes the top spot as the most Instagrammable theme park in the world, with 5,370,57 hashtag mentions.

The exceptional theme park is located just 32km east of the centre of Paris and is definitely worth the trip if you’re ever visiting the French capital. Choose from enchanting fairytale castles as your backdrop or visit the Pirate Galleon or Big Thunder Mountain for a more dramatic setting for your pictures.

Disneyland Resort, California, USA
Disneyland Resort in California, or ‘the happiest place on earth’ as many know it, is the second most-snapped theme park on Instagram, with 1,319,566 hashtag mentions. 

There are endless locations to capture your unforgettable memories at, from the haunted mansion and Star Wars-themed Galactic World, to Sleeping Beauty’s Castle and the iconic Splash Mountain. With so much to see and experience, you’ll probably fill your whole Instagram grid up with just a one-day visit. 

Universal Studios Hollywood, California, USA
Easily securing its place in third with 655,086 hashtag mentions is the spectacular Universal Studios in Hollywood. 

The magical, movie-lovers paradise has extraordinary themed areas and rides that surely make it one of the most insta-worthy places in the world. Snap a shot of yourself walking with dinosaurs at Jurassic World, or capture yourself outside Hogwarts stepping into The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. 

Europa Park, Germany
Europa Park situated in Rust, is the largest theme park in Germany and the second most popular theme park in Europe. With endless striking locations to snap your photographs, there’s no surprise it’s fourth place on the list with 605,752 mentions. 

Capture your memories with the twisting and turning rides featured in almost every shot, or head to the many country-themed monorails and train stations for a picture in Spain, Greece, Iceland and more.

Ferrari World, Abu Dhabi
For car fanatics, it doesn’t get much better than Ferrari World’s theme park on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. With 591,215 hashtag mentions, the indoor theme park takes fifth place on our list and has plenty of completely insta-worthy locations to take photographs at. 

Visit the Hypercars Exhibition to snap Ferrari’s most exclusive cars, or capture a snap of yourself behind the wheel on the many car-shaped rides. You can even experience the real thing with a Ferrari Driving Experience offered to visitors of the park. 

Efteling, The Netherlands
Efteling, the largest and most enchanting amusement park in the Netherlands, takes sixth place as one of the most Instagrammable theme parks in the world, with 565,922 mentions.

The fantasy-themed park was designed around fairytales, fables and folklore meaning there’s plenty of bewitching and mythical locations to explore and take memorable photos of. 

Pose with dragons, fairies and Laafland folk, or capture a selfie among the multiple Castles, villages and fairytale forests scattered around the park.

Dreamworld, Australia
In the seventh spot is Dreamworld, a theme park and zoo situated on the Gold Coast in Queensland. The theme park has 537,440 hashtag mentions on Instagram and judging from its variety of picturesque photo spots, it’s clear why. 

Whether you’re a thrill-seeker or a wildlife-lover, there are plenty of opportunities to capture a great photo; from a trip to tiger island, a stop at Shrek's Ogre Land or a visit to Madagascar Madness. 

Port Aventura, Spain
The popular Port Aventura theme park in Catalonia, Spain, is known not only for its thrilling rides, but for its incredible backdrops too, with 512,000 hashtag mentions on Instagram.

Split into districts, the theme park is the perfect place to capture holiday snaps inspired from different countries of the world. Capture unforgettable pictures in front of Mexico’s Mayan Pyramid, at a fishing village in the Meditarranean sea, or even with dragons in China – you can do it all.

Cedar Point, Ohio, USA
The extraordinary Cedar Point theme park in Ohio has 64-acres of scenic locations to capture the fun of your visit. 

With 507,786 hashtag mentions on Instagram, there’s a variety of photo opportunities with 18 world-class roller coasters on offer. From monster to mustang rides, a giant wheel and even a barnyard to take selfies with camels – you can see why Cedar Point has made the list.

Last on the list is the famous Walt Disney World Resort with 504,280 hashtag mentions. The Instagrammable theme park is a magical world of extraordinary locations that make for unforgettable photographs.  

Tour the enchanting Magic Kingdom, visit Nemo at the Aquarium, capture wild animals on the Kilimanjaro Safari or pose for photos with Disney entertainment characters like Sully, the Incredibles and Mickey Mouse.
