Mangroves and lagoons abound here, making this a prime habitat for some special species like toucans, flamingos, hummingbirds and pelicans. Explore the Sian Ka'An Biosphere Reserve
With 115 mammals, nearly 400 species of birds as well as more than 300 kinds of butterflies, the Sian Ka'An reserve near Tulum is the largest area under conservation in the entire Yucatan Peninsula. Declared as an UNESCO World Heritage site in 1987, nature lovers will find it as the best possible way to spot the flora and fauna of this most biodiverse region of Mexico.
