Everyone hopes for a seamless travel experience, but unfortunately, after planning the perfect vacation some of us still have regrets. What are the most common vacation mistakes to avoid?
Porch asked over 1,000 people about travel stress, big regrets, and why someone would opt for a ‘staycation’ instead of a traditional vacation. Notable findings:
- 20% of people regret not bringing enough money on their vacation, as well as forgetting to pack an essential item
- While cruises, all-inclusive resorts, and international travel are the most 'satisfying' and 'rejuvenating', road trips were the type of vacation least associated with these qualities.
- 10% of people regret souvenir purchases, averaging about 125$ per trip
- 1 in 5 of people also regret that their travel companions didn't want to do the same activities
1,001 people were surveyed using Amazon's Mechanical Turk. Forty-nine percent of respondents were men, and 51 percent were women. The ages of respondents ranged from 18 to 76, with an average age of 37 and a standard deviation of 11.6. No statistical testing was performed, and so results are based on means alone.
