A new survey by Cheaphotels.org reveals the most expensive spring destinations in the US for hotel stays. As you'll see, three Florida Keys appear in the top top 10 more expensive destinations.

The island city of Key West is the United States' most expensive spring destination for accommodation, according to a survey by Cheaphotels.org.

The survey compared hotel rates in destinations across America during May 2021. Only hotels rated 3 stars or more and located close to a beach or city centre were included in the survey.

Travellers to Key West in Florida can expect to spend $299 per night for the most affordable double room, the survey revealed. Only a few dollars more affordable are two other Florida Keys, Islamorada and Marathon.

Elsewhere, the most expensive destination for hotels in the state of Hawaii is Poipu, which ranks as the 4 th priciest destination overall with average rates of $245 per night. Poipu is among four Hawaii destinations to feature in the top 10, along with Wailea, Lahaina and Waikoloa.

While popular beach destinations in Florida and Hawaii seem to be even more expensive than pre-pandemic times in spring 2019, hotel rates in most city destinations appear to have come down significantly. In Boston, Austin, Charleston and Nashville, all of which have been among the priciest spring destinations in previous years with rates well above $200 per night, average rates are currently down by 40-45%.

The following table shows the 10 most expensive destinations for accommodation in the US this spring. The prices shown reflect the average rate for each destination's cheapest available double room for the period 1 May to 31 May, 2021.
