Tips to reconnect with nature and experience something new

Our stress and problems can make us feel lost and frazzled in our modern life, so find a way to keep us grounded and balanced will help us maintain an even keel.

It can be easy to get lost with our daily lives passing by like a blur of lights and sounds. It is important to connect with nature regularly to help us find peace and make ourselves better in dealing with our struggles. Our stress and problems can make us feel lost and frazzled in our modern life, so find a way to keep us grounded and balanced will help us maintain an even keel.

Commit to be with nature
Our minds are naturally predisposed to wander off and lose focus. It is apparent that even when we spend time to silence it, our mind continues to chatter and can take over. When we want to connect and experience new things, we must commit to doing so. We must focus our mind on developing a spiritual relationship with our surroundings to silence our minds and take notice of the things around us.

Create time alone in nature
Isolating ourselves doesn’t mean we don’t want to be with people. On the contrary, we are doing this to be able to connect truly with people around us. However, to do that we must be able to avoid distractions first such as talking and not listening. Keeping quiet can be uncomfortable and so we give in to social convention and open our mouths. We must learn to be aware of our own genuine experience and avoid distractions.

Have you ever been to a retreat before? A well-trained facilitator in a restful location for a yoga retreat in Montana can help you detach from your daily life and reconnect yourself with nature. This way, you’ll be able to experience silence and rejuvenation from your alone time focusing on yourself and your surroundings.

Be still
Hiking, running, or doing some form of physical activity can be effective but keeping still and focusing your mind can also be as effective. Find a good spot to sit and make sure you bring necessary provisions so that you won’t be interrupted by natural elements like rain or heat. If there are no comfortable places to sit and keep still you can bring your chair or cover to keep you cozy.

Keep calm and observe
When you’re walking or in a rhythmic pace, take some time to observe your surroundings. Take note of the small details and the larger lay of the terrain. Use your senses and see, listen, smell, and feel, make sure you enjoy yourself with the things around you. You then ask yourself: “What attracts me?” “Is it this river? This mountain? Or just this flower? Focus on the thing that pleases your senses and focus your mind on it.

Meditate
When you sit still and keep calm, you’re already somewhat meditating. However, real meditation allows you to empty your mind and sort out your emotions. At the start, you’ll feel chaotic and confused, but when you become familiar with it you’ll learn to silence yourself and relax your mind.

Our distractions and struggles will never completely disappear, it’s not the point. Our goal is to train ourselves to control our emotions and clear our minds. In this way, we energize ourselves and experience new things that will strengthen us. When we reconnect with nature we begin to clear some spaces for intuition and keep us connected with life as a whole.
