LONDON – Trivago, a leading global hotel metasearch, releases the official results of its annual trivago Awards, using over 175 million aggregated hotel reviews and semantic analysis to determine the best-rated hotels in the UK. This year the top ten hotels have been awarded across eight different categories: 3-star, 4-star, 5-star, B&Bs, Value for Money, Breakfast, Guest Service and Guest Rooms.

By analysing reviews aggregated from different sources across the web, trivago aims to award hotels on a basis which is accurate, comprehensive and impartial. Johannes Thomas, Managing Director at trivago, comments “We aggregate and analyse more than 175 million hotel reviews from websites all over the world. This gives us strong insights into what hotels are particularly good at. Our trivago awards recognise those hoteliers who deliver an exceptional experience to their guests, and we are proud and delighted to award those achievements.”

After being rated the best hotel in the UK last year, Hotel 41 in London is this year awarded the best 5-star hotel in the UK, with a rating of 95.75. Malcolm Hendry, General Manager, attributes quality service to their positive reviews: “Myself and the dedicated team of staff at Hotel 41 are committed to ensuring that each and every guest leaves our hotel having had a memorable and truly special stay.”

Also in the top ten last year were The Clontarf, The Arthington Guest House and Rudding Park, which all pick up awards for 2017. The Clontarf in Llandudno is recognised as the best 3-star hotel in the UK, which owner Joni Stubbs attributes to their excellent customer service and relaxed environment: “We take a relaxed and informal approach to hotel management and want all guests to feel comfortable but with all the modern comforts of today’s hotel environment.”

The Arthington Guest House, which came third in the national results last year, has been crowned the best in two categories this year: B&B and Value for Money. Stephen Fazakerley cites their loyal guests as the source of success: “Of course we would not still be here if it wasn't for the guests who come and stay with us, some for the first time and some year after year.”

Rudding Park in Harrogate has been awarded the best hotel for guest rooms in the UK. Peter Banks, Managing Director, attributes this to the quality of the environment: “We strive to provide the best possible value through a real care for our guests, experienced within the highest quality environment.”

The best 4-star hotel is The View at The White Horse in Woolley Moor, which is a new entry this year. Husband and wife team David and Melanie Boulby credit their suites and previous experience to the success: “It is particularly special as we built our eight, fifty square metre suites, to our own design based on experiences in other hotels and expectations of specific amenities.”

The best hotel for breakfast in the UK is H10 London Waterloo. Nerea Nunez, Sales Manager, praises the team’s dedication to staff satisfaction: “It’s a testament to our team and the effort the put in every day to deliver 100%.”

Finally, The Knight Residence by Mansley in Edinburgh offers the best guest service in the UK, which Group General Manager Colin Stone also attributes to the staff: “Our staff work hard to make our guests’ stays memorable, ensure their needs are met and help them make the most of their stay in Scotland’s capital.”
