UK early booking trend for summer 2013

Summer washout and end of Olympic fever spells end of the Staycation, as Directline Holidays reports a 400% rise in early bookings to overseas destinations for summer 2013
UNTED KINGDOM - Directline Holidays reports 60% of current sales are for summer 2013, seeing a rise in sales from between 200% to more than 400% to favourite summer destinations.

This early booking trend comes at a time when much of the country is coming to terms with some of the worst storms and flooding in recent memory.

Commenting on the trend, Maria Whiteman, CEO said “With the recession hitting hard at the beginning of the year, many chose to tighten belts by forfeiting their 2012 summer holiday, opting to stay at home and watch the Olympics instead. However, the washout that was summer 2012 has led holidaymakers to look towards 2013 more determined than ever to get away for a well deserved break.”

Directline Holidays’ low deposit scheme has also seen a massive impact on early bookings, offering holidaymakers the opportunity to secure a summer 2013 holiday for just £25. Booking early guarantees consumers get the holiday they want, with all the right elements and at the best price. It also gives customers something to look forward to, safe in the knowledge that the price has been fixed.

Current top 5 best selling summer 2013 destinations are the Balearics – Majorca & Ibiza; Greece – Zante, Crete and Rhodes; Turkey – Dalaman; Spain – Costa Blanca & Costa del Sol; and the Canaries – Tenerife.

Additionally Directline Holidays are experiencing a surprise increase in summer 2013 sales to Italy – Italian Riviera, Lakes & Mountains; Morocco; and Tunisia.
