Vennersys helps attractions meet climate change pledges

Cloud-based solutions require less energy to run as cooling and maintenance is more efficient.

Vennersys, an industry-leading provider of online ticketing and integrated point of sale solutions for over 25 years, has explained how using a cloud-based ticketing solution can help save the environment.

Regarding the climate crisis, Megan Thompson, Business Development Manager at Vennersys, comments “Visitor attractions are no exception. The type of attraction you operate will affect how much you are fuelling the climate crisis, but there are steps that every attraction can take to reduce their impact. For one, you could move your business infrastructure to the cloud.”

She believes that by switching to a cloud-based system, an attraction could reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions by nearly 80% when compared to on-premises servers. These systems help attractions to cut down on the amount of paper they use, for example, printed admission tickets, leaflets, brochures, maps, vouchers, and more. Instead, visitor attractions can provide these directly to the visitor’s mobile device, which can be more convenient for the guest, and reduces paper waste.

Cloud-based solutions require less energy to run as cooling and maintenance is more efficient. With the current movement toward renewable energy in the cloud services industry, we will start to see more providers running their systems exclusively off renewable energy in the next few years.
