WestJet delivers more options in air travel with implementation of Amadeus merchandising solutions

Canadian airline’s pre-reserved seats including Plus seats and fare families options now available via the Amadeus system, benefitting travel professionals and travelers.

MIAMI – Canadian airline, WestJet, is the latest carrier in North America to harness the power of Amadeus merchandising technology to make its pre- reserved seats including Plus seats and fare families available in the Amadeus global distribution channel.

WestJet has implemented Amadeus Airline Ancillary Services which enables the airline to empower travel agents worldwide to better serve their customers’ needs as they book the additional services requested for their flights, all within an efficient and automated booking flow.

Amadeus Airline Fare Families has also been implemented for WestJet, making its Econo, Flex and Plus fare options available in the Amadeus System. This will enable the airline to increase branding, differentiation and upsell opportunities of its travel offers by clearly showcasing the full value of each bundled fare. Amadeus-connected travel agents, in turn, can now better serve their customers by proposing the fares that best match traveler preferences.

Worldwide, 110+ airlines have contracted Amadeus’ industry leading portfolio of merchandising solutions that has been delivering real results for airlines, travel agents and travelers. WestJet is the 24th carrier to be fully implemented on Amadeus Airline Fare Families.Additionally, 75 airlines to date have been implemented in the world’s largest and most diverse travel community via Amadeus Airline Ancillary Services. Deployed worldwide, Amadeus’ industry leading solution delivers real results for airlines, travel agents and travelers, with a 100% increase in ancillaries sold during 2015 in the Amadeus system.

Amadeus users can book airline ancillary services for participating carriers right from the Amadeus Selling Platform or Amadeus Selling Platform Connect desktop. That means they can easily stay competitive with airline-direct ancillary service offerings without the need to call the carrier, visit the carriers’ website, or direct the client to the carrier. Amadeus Ancillary Services provides an easy-to-use tool allowing travel sellers to provide complete end-to-end travel arrangements, enhancing their value to their clients.
