What are the most common causes of rollover accidents

Let’s take a look at the most common causes and how to prevent them.

Rollover accidents can be devastating. Not only can they total a vehicle, but it can also lead to serious injury and death. That’s why it is important to prevent them while you’re behind the wheel.

If you are driving behind the wheel, you don’t want to live with the consequences that stemmed from poor driving (such as distracted driving).

Whether you are a new driver or have been doing it for a while, it’s important to do your part to get from point A to point B safely. Let’s take a look at the most common causes and how to prevent them.

Driver control
This is perhaps the most common of causes while rollover accidents happen. Losing control of your vehicle can happen with one thing. This can be due to distracted driving (especially texting) and falling asleep at the wheel among others.

If you close your eyes (or take it off the road) for five seconds while traveling at 55 mph, you’ve already gone 100 yards or the length of a football field. Anything can happen between that time.

You could hit something and that’s when the disaster happens. Pay attention to what’s in front of you in order to prevent rollovers from happening. Or it can cut your road trip or commute short.

Side impact collisions
Side impact collisions can trigger rollover accidents. You may be hit on your side hard enough to the point where there is just enough force to throw your vehicle sideways. You may be crossing an intersection thinking that you are clear and ready to go.

However, someone may be driving erratically and failing to stop. They can cause a rollover accident when all you’re doing is just minding your own business and driving. That is one more reason why you’ll want to be more attentive while on the road.

Anything can happen at any time. Even an obstacle or an unsafe driver can pop out of nowhere and accidents can happen. It’s also another reason why you need to reduce the use of your phone to zero while driving.

Frequent rollover accident injuries are nothing new. They can have long-term and even lifelong effects for yourself or even your passengers.

Risky/reckless driving
As mentioned in the previous section, unsafe drivers can pop out of nowhere. This is one of the reasons why. They could be driving recklessly and will also do something risky as well.

For example, they can be traveling at a high rate of speed and turn a corner that requires them to slow down. Even if you make the turn, there is enough friction built up in your tires that can be enough to flip your car over.

You’ll want to follow the speed limit signs and slow down before making turns. Because with just enough speed you can make it so you are unable to make the turn and an accident happens. This also includes a rollover accident.

Don’t take your chances, even with sharp turns. Because it can cost you.

Final thoughts
If you are preventing rollover accidents from happening, make sure that you do your part to drive safe. Keep control of your vehicle, look out from what’s in front of or around you, and don’t take risks. It’s up to you to make sure that you and your passengers reach your destination safely.

The last thing you ever want to do is cause a rollover accident. Likewise, you don’t want to be in one when it’s not your fault. Driving requires as much attention to the road as anything else. So be safe and make sure you are attentive at all times.
