For many people, South America is a bucket list destination, but there’s no reason why you shouldn’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today. South America is a magical vacation destination as it’s made up of several countries that are steeped in unmatched cultural, historical, and natural wonders.

Whether you choose to make your arrangements or sign up for one of the many Peru tours, here are some excellent reasons why you shouldn’t hesitate to make your travel plans today.

You can expect some great experiences for a little budget
Regardless of which part of this continent you visit you’re going to be in for a pleasant surprise when it comes to the cost of things. This is especially apparent when you compare it with other places in the world.

Whatever your budget, you’ll find it’s enough to guarantee some good experiences that include enjoying the local cuisine.

South America also provides endless opportunities for affordable travel by bus or even plane. You can choose from a wide range of trips to suit all budgets and the comfort and service have improved significantly in recent years.

South America has some unique nature
South America doesn’t have the same number of big cities you might find in other places, but it does have some beautiful nature experiences, many of which can’t be matched anywhere else in the world.

The natural landscape includes spectacular mountains, perpetual snow, fantastic beaches, deep and green jungles, and incredible deserts

South America also has the perfect climate for exploring, whatever time of the year you visit. The continent extends over 4,750 miles and this wide range of geographical regions brings a variety of weather. It ranges from Antarctic conditions in Patagonia in southern Argentina to tropical conditions in the Amazon basin.

Multiculturalism is endless
South America is made up of 17 different countries/territories each with its own culture and native peoples. They include:

  • Argentina
  • Bolivia
  • Bouvet Island
  • Brazil
  • Chile
  • Colombia
  • Ecuador
  • Falkland Islands
  • French Guiana
  • Guyana
  • Paraguay
  • Peru
  • South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands
  • Suriname
  • Uruguay
  • Venezuela

You might choose one particular country as a base for your vacation, but nothing is stopping you from crossing the border into a neighboring country or simply exploring more than one city in a country. During your travels, you’ll find a range of different people to get to know, places to discover, and traditions and cultures to experience.

When Europeans colonized South America, they left a mark that blended with its more indigenous roots. This is reflected in the many traditions, colors, and flavors you’ll experience across the continent. Many of these will leave their mark during your trip and leave you with some memorable experiences.

Gastronomy experiences
Any visitors who are willing to try the various gastronomy delights won’t be disappointed when they visit South America. The continent is rich with many different vegetables and fruits, some of the best cocoa and coffee in the world, and a tasty variety of seafood and meat.

The native people are also able to cook up a storm and create some mouth-watering cuisine. It’s always a good idea to ask the locals what they recommend. You’ll be pleasantly surprised by the fascinating dishes that get served up.

You don’t need a massive budget either, even if you’re booking a table at an haute cuisine restaurant. In addition, you’ll find local markets and squares that are a great place to find the most authentic local gastronomy at a price that won’t break the bank.

Get lost in the Andes
The Andes mountains spread across the western side of the South American continent and cross at least six countries. Machu Picchu is the most obvious tourist attraction, but the surrounding valley also has some stunning views and interesting history.

If you’re looking for an adventure, you’re bound to find it in the Andes mountains, whether you choose to hike, climb, or mountain bike under those vast blue skies.

It’s almost a given that you’ll be totally blown away by what you see and experience in the untouched landscapes of the Andes.

South America has some spectacular people
The final reason in the list could be considered by many to be the most important. Visit South America and you’ll meet some truly genuine people who are always willing to help you and make you feel at home.

One common trait in South American people is their willingness to help. They also have amazing energy for life. Of course, you may encounter some exceptions, but on the whole, you’ll meet people with big hearts who love their homeland.

Let’s not forget some of the festivals that take place on the continent every year. During carnival week, whatever city, there’ll be something going on including parades, dancing, music, parties, and lots of delicious food.

Final thoughts
Hopefully, we’ve managed to convince you that South America should be your next vacation destination. There’s no time like the present to make plans and book your South American adventure.
