Yapta successfully completes Type II SOC 2 Examination

Leader in airfare and hotel price tracking reinforces customer confidence in data security.

SEATTLE – Yapta, a leading provider of airfare and hotel price tracking services, announced that the company has achieved Service Organization Control 2 (SOC 2) Type II compliance status. An examination conducted by an independent auditing firm has verified that Yapta’s information security practices, policies, and procedures meet the Trust Services Principles and Criteria for Security, Availability, Processing Integrity and Confidentiality.

“Achieving SOC 2 Type II compliance is a signal to our customers that we manage their data with great respect and care,” said James Filsinger, President and CEO of Yapta. “We’ve effectively demonstrated that our operations and processes meet the highest level of trust and transparency. As a cloud-based services provider, this is extremely important, particularly to our large customers in highly regulated industries.”

Yapta currently serves more than 7,000 enterprise customers in more than 25 different countries while monitoring over $8 billion in travel spend.  As part of the compliance process, an independent third-party audit firm confirmed that Yapta’s security policies, measures and procedures rigorously protect the travel itinerary data observed and managed by Yapta’s IQ technology.

The examination focused on Yapta’s adherence to the Trust Service Principles and Criteria set forth by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). The AICPA created the SOC guidelines to provide an authoritative and independent benchmark for service organizations to demonstrate implementation of proper control procedures and practices.

The Type II examination not only looks at the policies and procedures in place at a given point in time, but also validates their effectiveness over a six-month period.

“SOC2 Type II compliance completes a milestone for us, but we don’t stop there,” said Brandon Evans, Chief Technology Officer at Yapta. “We are committed to ensuring the privacy and security of our customers’ data. We are constantly monitoring, reviewing, improving, and enhancing our controls and policies to position us for compliance with future security certifications and attestations."

“Data security will always be a priority for our organization,” Filsinger said. “We know that true confidence in travel is something earned, and we’ll continue to work hard to protect that confidence."
