15.2 million passengers in the first six months of the year in Berlin

Schonefeld continues to display strong growth.

Passenger figures have continued to rise in Berlin: in the first six months of the year passenger numbers rose by 11 per cent. Since the beginning of the year, 15.2 million passengers have departed from Schonefeld and Tegel. In the first six months of 2016, Berlin had more passengers than in the whole of 2004. The Traffic Report for June 2016 provides figures on passengers, aircraft movements and air cargo for that month as well as the total since the beginning of the year, always with comparisons to the same period of the previous years.
 
Traffic figures for January to June 2016

  1. Passengers: 15,239,320 passengers passed through Schonefeld and Tegel Airports between January and June 2016, equivalent to growth of 11% in comparison with the same period of the previous year. 5,280,120 passengers were handled at Schonefeld Airport, 39.4% more than in the same period of 2015. 9,959,200 passengers were handled at Tegel, 0.2% more than in the same period of the previous year.
  2. Aircraft movements: The number of aircraft movements at Schonefeld and Tegel between January and June 2016 rose to a total of 136,724 take-offs and landings, an increase of 9.3% in comparison with the same period of the previous year. The number of aircraft movements at Schonefeld rose to 45,762, representing an increase of 28%. At Tegel, there were 90,962 take-offs and landings, a 1.8% increase over the previous year.

Traffic figures for June 2016

  • Passengers: In June 2016, 2,951,674 passengers took off and landed at Schonefeld and Tegel Airports, equivalent to growth of 10.1% in comparison with June 2015. Schonefeld registered 972,905 passengers (+31.8%) in June; the comparable figure for Tegel was 1,978,769 passengers (+1.9%).
  • Aircraft movements: The number of aircraft movements at Schonefeld and Tegel Airports in June rose to a total of 25,083 take-offs and landings, an increase of 6.4% over the same period of the previous year. The number of aircraft movements at Schonefeld rose to 8,461 (+19.7%). At Tegel, 16,622 aircraft movements (+0.7%) were registered in June.
