15% rejected from flights while traveling with service animals

Although nearly 4 in 5 agree animals should be allowed in the main cabin on a flight, over 1 in 5 wouldn’t want to get stuck on a flight with someone traveling with their service animal.

To explore the public’s sentiments on including service animals in travel plans, Upgraded Points asked nearly 1,000 Americans their thoughts. 

Some key findings

  • 38% have successfully flown with their service animal, while only 1 in 11 have brought their emotional support animal onto a flight
  • Over half the respondents agree pet owners abuse service animal policies- Could this be why nearly 15% have been rejected from a flight while traveling with a service animal? 
  • Although nearly 4 in 5 agree animals should be allowed in the main cabin on a flight, over 1 in 5 wouldn’t want to get stuck on a flight with someone traveling with their service animal.
