Adelman Travel and Summit Performance Group form AdelmanSummit Meetings and Incentives Travel Alliance

Co-branding agreement focuses on burgeoning Meetings & Incentives travel business.

MILWAUKEE – Adelman Travel and Summit Performance Group announced they have formed AdelmanSummit to offer comprehensive corporate and association meeting and event management, incentive travel, and sports hospitality services to businesses and organizations.

Adelman Travel, based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin is the 22nd-largest travel agency in the United States and has a strong emphasis on business travel and travel management services. Summit Performance Group, based in San Diego, California is a global provider of event management and incentive travel services. Under terms of the co-marketing and co-branding agreement, AdelmanSummit will provide traditional event and meetings management services, including:

  • Strategic planning
  • Onsite meetings management and production
  • Registration and staffing
  • Facilities and equipment sourcing and rental
  • Logistics
  • Event staffing and activities management
  • Airfare booking
  • Lodging management
  • Ground transportation
  • Tourism management and services
  • Travel management and contract negotiation services

Summit Performance Group’s clients include several Fortune 500 companies, such as PepsiCo, Arrow S3, Life Technologies Corporation and Pfizer Pharmaceuticals. They have produced and managed over 2,000 events throughout North America, Europe and the Far East. Their meetings have ranged in size from 10 to over 2,000 people. The newly formed AdelmanSummit is currently working with over 30 corporations to coordinate and manage their meetings and events.

“Partnering with Summit offers our customers a turnkey solution to managing meetings and events of any size,” said Angela Abbate, vice president of global services for Adelman Travel. “We saw a need for this among many of our business travel customers, and I know Summit saw a need for travel services among its meetings and incentives customers. This partnership benefits both of our client bases.”

Doug Wheeler, co-owner and partner of Summit Performance Group, agreed. “There has been an increasing trend among corporate and organizational customers to outsource this kind of business,” said Wheeler, “and this includes smaller meetings of 20 to 30 people. Coordinating a meeting with participants coming in from all over the nation – or the globe – can be complicated, and requires expertise and skill sets that many companies and organizations might not have. Nothing is better than a meeting or an event that is planned well and executed flawlessly – and nothing is worse than one that isn’t.”

Incentives travel programs – typically wherein companies reward or incentivize employees for performance – had declined during the recent economic recession, but according to Wheeler, are coming back. So are sports hospitality programs and events.

“It’s big business and getting bigger,” said Wheeler. “Trips and travel have always been attractive as an employee reward, and sports teams and leagues are using travel and hospitality programs as a way to connect to larger audiences. In every case, customers want a fun and seamless experience. AdelmanSummit is here to provide that.”
