ADELTE to supply two new Seaport Passenger Boarding Bridges in Hamburg

The new Cruise Center, arising in the city district Steinwerder, right in the heart of the Port, will be able to accommodate new generation cruise vessels as of June 2015.

BARCELONA – Cruise Gate Hamburg Terminaleigentumsgesellschaft (CGH), a subsidiary of Hamburg Port Authority (HPA), is currently building in cooperation with Hamburg Airport a new cruise terminal “Cruise Center Steinwerder” and has contracted ADELTE to design, manufacture and install two state-of-the-art HYDRA-model Seaport Passenger Boarding Bridges (SPBBs).

The new Cruise Center, arising in the city district Steinwerder, right in the heart of the Port, will be able to accommodate new generation cruise vessels as of June 2015.

Unlike the existing terminals in Altona and HafenCity, the new terminal will have one building for arriving and one building for departing passengers, both connected to ADELTE’s new SPBBs which will guaranty flexible and fast embarking and disembarking operations for 8.000 cruise guests in a day.

“We are excited about the new cruise terminal as it will provide first-class service infrastructure for the fast increasing number of cruise guests. We expect this number will double in the next 15 years. The project is going on schedule. ADELTE and all other project partners are doing a great job….” says Iris Scheel, Project Manager Cruise Center Steinwerder.

The two custom-designed SPBBs will include all the latest innovations and cutting-edge technology patented by ADELTE, ensuring optimum operating efficiency and total safety and comfort for passengers, including those with reduced mobility.

The HYDRA boarding bridges will be equipped with an innovative feature for SPBBs patented by ADELTE: a docking ramp which will allow passenger embarkation and disembarkation to cruise ships doors below quay level.

“It is the second time that our company is contracted to deliver sophisticated boarding bridges to the Port of Hamburg; the first SPBB was installed in 2011 at Cruise Center Altona and is perfectly operating since. We are very proud to be involved in this spectacular new terminal concept and to be able to bring our unique design & safety technology to help grow the cruise activity in Hamburg” says Martin Westphal, Strategic Sales & Innovation Director at ADELTE.

With this new project ADELTE, the leading provider of Seaport Passenger Boarding Bridges and Global Services to cruise and ferry terminals, significantly increases its install base in Germany with a total of 6 SPBBs operating in Kiel and Hamburg.
