Pretoria: Tourism Marketing South Africa (TOMSA<.>) has achieved its highest collection figure to date. In excess of R4-million was deposited from levy collecting tourism establishments countrywide for the month of November.



TOMSA is a Section 21 organisation established by the Tourism Business Council of South Africa in order to raise funds for the generic marketing of South Africa internationally by South African Tourism.



TOMSA Chairman, Glenn van Heerden announced that South African Tourism is to benefit from in excess of R30-million in contributions for this year. He continued that it was anticipated that TOMSA would be able to tranfer nearly R41-million in the forthcoming year and in excess of R50-million in 2003, based on current growth trends.



The rapid growth of the TOMSA fund was due to the commitment of the industry

to materially assist South African Tourism with the important function of International Marketing,
said Mr van Heerden.



The Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA) is the umbrella organisation representing the tourism business sector involved in Tourism. The TBCSA was established in February 1996 by leading tourism businesses to engage with government, interest groups and decision-makers in developing macro strategies to create an enabling environment for tourism development.
