Air Transat continues to increase its capacity from the UK to Canada

Restarts flight to Montreal and introduces direct service to Quebec City.

LONDON — Air Transat, named the World’s Best Leisure Airline, is expanding the choice of Canadian destinations it offers UK travellers with the restart of non-stop flights from London Gatwick to Montreal and the launch of an exclusive direct service to Quebec City in 2022.

Flights to Montreal are set to resume in May, with daily services from June to September. The weekly flight from London Gatwick to Quebec City will operate every Thursday from May to September.

These new routes follow Air Transat’s return to the UK last September with a three times weekly service from London Gatwick to Toronto, that will be upgraded to a daily flight starting May 2022. In the summer of 2022, up to 14 flights per week will be offered between these two major travel hubs. In addition, weekly service to Toronto from Manchester re-commenced on 20th October and are set to re-start from Glasgow on 16th December, 2021. At the height of summer, four weekly flights will be offered from both Glasgow and Manchester.

Sonia Kurek, Commercial Director of UK, Ireland and GSA Markets at Air Transat, says: “There is a pent-up demand for travel to Canada as one of the world’s foremost destinations, and Air Transat is thrilled to be the first airline to operate a direct flight between London Gatwick and Quebec City, thus allowing British travellers to discover this must-see destination.

“Thanks to our renewed fleet, now one of the world’s most modern, and an enhanced domestic flight programme offering multiple connections via Montreal and Toronto, it will be easier than ever to discover the Great White North next summer.”

Montreal is vibrant no matter the season and sure to charm any type of traveller. While music lovers can enjoy a series of summertime festivals, foodies can dine at one of its many acclaimed farm-to-table restaurants. Visitors looking for a more peaceful experience can visit downtown’s Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, explore the 190-acre Montreal Botanical Garden, or take a peaceful stroll through Mount Royal Park to admire the city skyline.

With its 400-year-old cobblestone streets and as one of the oldest walled settlements in North America, Quebec City is truly a delight to explore. The UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to the iconic Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, instantly recognisable with its revivalist grandeur and cliff-top position overlooking the St. Lawrence River. The capital city prides otherwise itself on its joie de vivre, including superb terroir dining and fun-filled outdoor festivals that are sure to attract music, history and even living art aficionados.

Passengers travelling from the UK will fly on Air Transat’s all-Airbus fleet, including the wide-body A330 aircraft and the new A321neoLR aircraft, which has the lowest environmental impact in its class, reinforcing the company’s commitment to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

Passengers travelling in Economy Class will enjoy more personal space and improved comfort with wider, natural leather seats, in addition to state-of-the-art in-seat entertainment systems with individual touch screens and USB ports to charge personal electronic devices.

In the 12-seat Club Class cabin, passengers will benefit from personalised service, natural leather seats with a leg rest for maximum comfort and individual touch screens.
