airBaltic advances connection opportunities for Billund

The news from airBaltic follows on the recent announcement that Wizz Air will advance its route offering to Eastern Europe from Billund next year, confirming that from 2 March it will add a twice-weekly service from Kiev Zhulyany.

A dedicated airline partner of Western Denmark’s largest gateway for many years, Billund Airport is delighted to confirm that airBaltic will increase the number of flights it operates to Riga for S19, giving passengers even more opportunities to travel to the Latvian capital and beyond through the airline’s network of over 70 destinations throughout Europe, Russia, CIS and the Middle East.

“Its great news that airBaltic has decided to further invest in Billund Airport by adding these extra flights to its schedules for next summer, giving passengers even more choice and flexibility to connect with the Latvian capital and beyond through the carrier’s growing network,” comments Jan Hessellund, CEO of Billund Airport. “The expansion proves that airBaltic is a strong brand in our catchment, and with the carrier currently in a strong growth phase, I’m sure that these additional flights will prove to be popular not just with our point-to-point passengers, but those looking for better connections via Riga.”

The news from airBaltic follows on the recent announcement that Wizz Air will advance its route offering to Eastern Europe from Billund next year, confirming that from 2 March it will add a twice-weekly service from Kiev Zhulyany. With this expansion, on top of airBaltic’s frequency increase, the number of weekly flights from Billund to Eastern Europe will grow by close to 20% in S19.

From 31 March, airBaltic will provide four extra weekly flights to Billund Airport from Riga, with a fifth additional rotation being introduced from 29 April. With the carrier already offering daily services to Western Denmark’s largest airport, it means that for peak summer 2019 airBaltic will offer 11 weekly flights from its main hub.
