In December 2013, airberlin increased the available seat kilometers (ASK) by 3.4 percent over the corresponding month of the previous year, by offering additional long-haul flights and connections available throughout the year.

In 2013, airberlin was once again able to increase capacity utilization. In yearly comparison, Germany’s second-largest airline company increased capacity utilization by 1.3 percentage points, to 84.9 percent. airberlin transported a total of 31,535,867 passengers, making 2013 the fourth year in a row to exceed the 30 million passenger mark. The available seat kilometers (ASK) for 2013 amounted to 57.251 billion and the revenue passenger kilometers (RPK) amounted to 48.575 billion.

In December 2013, airberlin increased the available seat kilometers (ASK) by 3.4 percent over the corresponding month of the previous year, by offering additional long-haul flights and connections available throughout the year. In December, capacity utilization over the entire airberlin flight route network amounted to 81.4 percent and was thus below that of the corresponding month of the previous year (82.6 percent), due to the additional flight frequencies being first added in December. In total, airberlin welcomed 1,820,724 passengers on board in December.  

In December, airberlin increased its available seat kilometers to 3.739 billion, i.e. an increase of 3.4 percent in yearly comparison (previous year: 3.617 billion). The revenue passenger kilometers increased by 1.8 percent, to 3.042 billion (previous year: 2.988 billion).

For 2013, airberlin has changed the way it calculates its capacity utilization. The capacity utilization calculation is now determined according to the sector standard, and the revenue passenger kilometers (RPK) are compared to the available seat kilometers (ASK). For the purpose of a yearly comparison, the capacity utilization for 2012 was likewise calculated anew.
