Airport Service Budapest ltd. commences all-inclusive ground handling services at the Hungarian airport

AS ltd. received its extended ground handling services license on 24 July 2020. The license entitles the company to provide all-inclusive ground handling services at Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport.

BUDAPEST – The domestically owned company is set to launch ground handling services for airlines at Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport.

The legal predecessor of the 100% Hungarian-owned Airport Service Budapest ltd. (hereinafter referred to as AS), founded in 1997, has been expanding its portfolio for the past two decades across the fields of aviation security, ground handling, facility operation and private security services.

AS ltd. received its extended ground handling services license on 24 July 2020. The license entitles the company to provide all-inclusive ground handling services at Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport.

AS’s first and privileged partner is Air France-KLM Group, which means that the company shall begin its activity at the Budapest airport on 1 October 2020 as the official ground handling provider of the Air France, Air France HOP!, KLM and KLM Cityhopper airlines.

The contract that was put out to tender and then won by the airline group covers passenger and baggage handling services (passenger check-in, boarding and deboarding, baggage registration, loading and unloading), as well as aircraft services (cabin cleaning, ramp services, documentation, aircraft cooling/heating, deicing etc.). This involves 4 departing Air France and 4 KLM flights a day during the summer schedule, and 3 flights of each airline in the winter.

Airport Service ltd. is continuously expanding its staff. The company has already hired or taken over from Malev GH ltd. "f.a”, in liquidation, 140 persons out of the planned staff of 238 specialising in ground handling operations. It is through these moves that AS feels confident that an appropriately qualified and experienced staff will be able to guarantee a high level of customer satisfaction with the airlines served, as passengers’ impressions of a particular airline is
fundamentally affected by their experiences at the airport. As a domestic specialist of ground handling services, AS seeks to offer world-class, spot-on, reliable ground handling services to its business partners and the passengers served by those partners.

Their basic approach consists in a sense of ownership of airlines’ problems and the ‘tender spots’ of their operations, and act proactively both in providing their services and – particularly – in managing irregularities, which is a dominant factor shaping passengers’ judgement of an airline’s services.

“We are eager to offer our colleagues a dependable, high-quality workplace and a supportive environment, in which they feel fine, thanks to which AS will soon add a dash of colour to the airport of Budapest. The low traffic levels these days enable us to do something that would have been almost impossible for us to do over the past ten years, because of the phenomenal growth of traffic experienced by the industry: building our operations in a circumspect, step-by-step, well-thought-out fashion, based on our partners’ feedback, instead of just focusing on satisfying momentary demands. We are keen to build an open, strong and reliable company that functions well in every respect, and guarantees consistently top-notch services for all of our partners. AS ltd. is a stable player of the market. While ground handling companies typically operate in this single segment, we are a firm believer in diversification, so situations like the present pandemic, which cause a setback in aviation, do not endanger the survival of the company”, Airport Service Budapest ltd. CEO Lajos Moro said.
