Amadeus achieves sustainability leadership in the DJSI five years in a row

Amadeus is the only travel technology company included in the prestigious Dow Jones Sustainability Index in 2016. DJSI measures sustainability in leading-edge corporations worldwide.

BANGKOK, THAILAND – At Amadeus they believe that travel is not just about statistics or transactions. It’s also about people. Which is why they always try to identify not just what our customers and other travel industry stakeholders need today, but also what they might depend on tomorrow.

Shaping the future of travel is more than delivering only technological and product innovations: it’s also about working positively with local communities and driving sustainable social enhancement in the coming weeks, months and years. In this sense, our vision as a corporation goes far beyond commercial growth – we work hard every day to make a sustainable contribution to the industries and societies in which we operate and we are committed to developing a sustainable and socially responsible business.

For this reason, Amadeus is extremely proud that the prestigious Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) has once again recognised our comprehensive sustainability strategy for the fifth consecutive year both in the European and World categories.

The Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) traces, reviews and evaluates sustainability in leading-edge corporations worldwide, and Amadeus is the only travel technology company included in both indices. Company's capacity to provide the travel industry with IT solutions to help reduce its environmental impact was an important part of the selection process.

As an IT company, Amadeus reached the highest scores in relevant areas such as code of business conduct, risk and crisis management, environmental management systems and reporting, and corporate citizenship.

“Amadeus is committed to supporting travel providers and travellers through transparent business practices delivering a positive impact on society and the environment. This new DJSI recognition of Amadeus’ strategy encourages us to continue to work in that direction”, Tomas Lopez Fernebrand, SVP, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, Amadeus IT Group, commented.
