Airlines can realize greater productivity, fuel savings and new revenue opportunities, including potential average savings between $3 million and $6 million in fuel costs. Amadeus’ solution integrates with any airline’s flight operations or passenger service system and allows load planners to process 2.5 more loadsheets per shift.
MIAMI, FL – Amadeus announced the launch of the Amadeus Flight Management solution in North America. This industry-leading load planning solution enables airlines to centralize and automate their processes to reduce revenue loss without compromising accuracy and make their operations more efficient.
“The next big opportunity for airlines in North America lies below the wing. Today the load planning systems and manual processes they have relied upon for decades are not up to best-in-class standards. We have found that on average about 25% of total flights carry too much fuel, and at times more than 50% of flights, leading to unnecessary expenses. Amadeus’ load planning solution enables airlines to significantly reduce or virtually eliminate this over-planning of fuel while gaining operational and business benefits,” said Ilia Kostov, Chief Commercial Officer, Airline IT, Amadeus North America.
Optimizing flight management also requires an airline’s load planners to aggregate vast amounts of data and communicate critical cargo and baggage details prior to a flight’s departure. Amadeus’ load planning solution was designed with airline load planners in mind.
“Amadeus’ approach demonstrates our commitment to providing airlines and their teams with next generation solutions that streamline pre-departure efficiencies, simplify the load planning process and drive greater opportunities and value for our customers below the wing,” said Kostov.
Airlines can achieve real results from implementing Amadeus’ load planning solution:
- Greater fuel savings – average $3 million to $6 million annually for a typical North American carrier. Amadeus’ load planning solution reduced the error of overestimated flights by an average 76% versus other solutions. This can potentially save an average carrier approximately $3 million to $6 million annually, depending on a variety of factors including number of flights, aircraft types, and domestic versus international flying. (Figures are based on analysis conducted by Amadeus of aggregated airline customer data. Actual results may differ by airline. Carriers should contact Amadeus to discuss their potential savings.)
- Enhanced productivity – load planners process 2.5 times more loadsheets. Using Amadeus’ technology, airline load planners can process up to 50 loadsheets, and in some instances 75, per 8 hour shift. With 100% automation, load controllers are able to quickly and easily process a greater number of the loadsheets which reduces the number of delays associated to late loading cargo, baggage and fuel.
- Increased cargo revenues with accurate capacity optimization. As weight and balance activity is automatically and more accurately calculated, airlines can identify in advance the space available for potential cargo revenues through better payload forecasting.
Airlines can seamlessly integrate the solution with their existing reservation, check-in or flight operations systems to deliver new efficiencies. Over 90 airlines and ground handlers worldwide have already seen the real results delivered by Amadeus’ load planning solutions.
