American Express Global Business Travel extends flagship partnership with UNICEF USA

GBT renews commitment to support critical digital education for children and youth.

London – American Express Global Business Travel (GBT) has extended its flagship cause partnership with UNICEF USA for another two years. Through the renewal of its charitable partnership, GBT will support the Learning Passport programme, developed by UNICEF and powered by Microsoft Community Training to help children and youth continue their education, no matter the barriers to attending school, from pandemics to natural disasters to displacement, through a digital remote learning platform.

GBT’s partnership with UNICEF USA was launched in 2019 and has now been extended through to 2023. The commitment will continue to support global efforts to provide safe, quality education for children during times of emergency, and support expansion of the Learning Passport programme.

GBT is thrilled to continue our partnership with UNICEF USA and support the pivotal work that UNICEF does around the world to educate children in times of crisis,” said Si-Yeon Kim, GBT’s Chief Risk & Compliance Officer and Executive Chair of ESG.

Investing in the Learning Passport programme enables us to make a meaningful contribution to fulfilling a fundamental human right that helps preserve the wellbeing of communities and wider society. This innovative programme is working to close a critical gap, widened by school closures during the COVID-19 pandemic,” added Kim.

The Learning Passport – available offline, online and via mobile devices – provides a digitized curriculum, featuring textbooks and supplemental content in national languages, jointly curated at country level to best serve learners’ and educators’ needs. The Learning Passport guides each learner with a unique, personalized record that can be taken across physical and digital borders.

GBT’s UNICEF USA partnership is part of the company’s Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) framework.
