With Chinese travel booming, tourism bodies are keenly monitoring the Chinese outbound market globally. Industry estimates of this massive market conservatively expect 100 million Chinese outbound travelers by 2020, each spending USD$175 per day. Meanwhile proactive travel brands and products are making sure they capture their share of this highly lucrative market by securing their participation at the Beijing Travel and Tourism Market 2006 (BITTM).

BITTM is strictly a 100% outbound, 100% business-to-business event where sellers of travel products can meet one-on-one with qualified Chinese outbound buyers of travel. UFI member, Media Matters, independently audited BITTM 2005 and the recently published event results are encouraging travel companies that did not attend to ensure they participate in 2006. BITTM 2006 is being held April 3-5 in Beijing and as the leading business-to-business event, provides the essential link between the rapid development of the Chinese travel industry and the global travel and tourism industry.

The Media Matters independent survey and post-event report disclosed

BITTM 2005 had 120 International Exhibitors from 31 countries. BITTM 2005 produced an estimated USD $9,360,000 of business on site between International Exhibitors and Chinese Buyers/Visitors. Critically, 1,800 marketing leads were generated on site for future development. 87% of International Exhibitors achieved their sales and marketing objectives. 80% of International Exhibitors stated Buyer/Visitor quality met or surpassed their expectations. 88% of International Exhibitors were participating at BITTM 2005 to make business contacts to fast track into the vast Chinese outbound market. 86% of Buyers/Visitors had direct purchasing power.
